Although these bike looks from the outside as a +2013 daytona 675, when you have a good look at the engine, you see it's the new Moto2 765 engine which triumph currently is testing.

they said not with this engine...because it's purely a racing engine it's designed to be rebuilt every 3000 miles......they might come up with a less racey version in the future though IF there's enough interest

Sounded like one of the riders was looking for more RPM. I assume the limiter was set a bit low for testing. I'm wondering what kind of peak RPM this new engine will generate before that balance shaft "exists stage left"?

Lol, when I first switched to a daytona I'd always accidentally hit the limiter because I was so used to the feel and sound of an inline 4 revving to the moo . Took me a while to adjust

Sometimes it's faster to keep it very short in the rev limiter icw up and again downshift before the corner :)

Yea, that's a compromise for somewhere else on the track with gearing setup. What are the gearing rules for M2? Do you have to set the gear selection before the season and stay with it or can you change them as req'd?

3cyls make it hard to tell IMO. As a recently uneducated guess i'd assume ~14-14.5k. Previous 600cc moto2 triples were limited to 15.5k but it'll all depend on the rules and how long they say they need to last in the end. Under the 600cc rules they were limited 3 gearbox ratio selections for the season, but of course you have almost unlimited final drive changes through the sprockets. Also nothing wrong with leaning on the limiter under load like that, its there to stop damage, thats its only job. People think its an alarm for imminent detonation lol. The difference could be something as simple as rider preference or gearing, to different engine maps or testing completely different engine configs and their service lives. 1 thing for sure, they sound awesome and i'll be watching them. Always had a soft spot for 3 & 5cyl engines.
