@@chriscannone8617 That's true the quality in anime really went downhill. It's not what it used to be. Anime from the 90's/early 00's was so unique and different. There were shows like DBZ or Sailor Moon, but then there were shows like Please Save My Earth (not very well known but one of my favorites mangas/anime) or the early Gundam series. Hardly any fan service and not so loud and bright. More stylish and a quiet sort of beauty.

Possibly the best Conan segment ever. Smigel was always so quick on his feet, and everyone was a great sport and appreciated the moment rather than taking it personally. Thanks for sharing.

I was a sophomore in HS when this first aired. To this day it is one of my favorite sketches of all time. And much like today, I revisit it when I need a nice nostalgic laugh

I remember watching this the day it aired and laughed so hard. It’s one of the funniest and most memorable moments in television history. The only other moment I can ever remember laughing as hard was watching the Chapel/Rick James episode when it first aired.

I remember that. It was a CD/DVD combo and they did a song to the tune of Monster Mash called Blackwolf the Dragonmaster. The best bit was with Horatio Sanz. "Oh, look at me, I have eyes, I can see things!" "Showoffs with the eyes!" Man, I gotta find that.
I love how all of the fans are legitimately enjoying this roasting and are good sports about it. Nerds are good people

But he still completely hits it out of the park in his Wiener's Circle, Michael Jackson, and the unedited version of his takedown of Don Rickles, who had been coasting on non-funny non-sequiturs for decades. His Chris Christie segment was outstanding too, and his Bon Jovi one had some hilarious stuff too. He's got some duds, like anyone would, but overall is just so damn good.

All my buddies were stoners and we always watched Conan at my house...........so we all just laughed and talked about it later. In fact the only time I watched anything back then was with friends. Now I only watch things alone, intentionally. The memories are nice though.

In 1999 we were sharing a pre-release version of the Matrix on the university LAN (split into two halves, due to file size limitations). By 2002 you could find funny video clips like this, but someone would have had to have a TV tuner card, capture it OTA or from cable, compress it, and then share it at pretty low quality on LimeWire.

Ahh one of the best nights I’ve had...I remember watching this opening night after having just watched Episode 2 with my friends. We were 17, we just smoked a joint before this came on and I don’t think I’ve ever laughed so hard in my life. Seriously, it’s one of my fondest memories. We were on the floor, curled up in pain, crying from laughing so hard. Great times for sure. Miss those days.

Conan said on a piece with Terry Gross, that he thought this one of the funniest on the street bits that Robert Smigel ever did. A lot of re-written jokes and a lot of improv and also just a lot a good natured fans that like to laugh at themselves. Excellent piece of comedy!!

I’ve seen this a million times and just realized that, “You don’t deal with lesser life forms? You must be a lonely guy” is actually a compliment. Triumph is accidentally saying the guy is a superior life form. He was trying to say the guy was the lowest life form, but then the insult should actually be, “You don’t deal with lesser life forms? You must be a popular guy.”

If he’s the lowest life form, the fact that there is no one beneath him wouldn’t affect his social life at all bc everyone is above him and he deals with them. But if the HIGHEST life form doesn’t deal with lesser lifeforms, THEY would be lonely bc everyone is beneath them. Btw I’m a huge Triumph fan and I’m not trying to pick the joke apart lol. I know what he was trying to say it just came out wrong.
