Have to say I agree with your philosophy on buying the best you can afford. My dad always emphasised that with me as a teen in the 60's. He always said 'buy cheap now and regret it later'.

I just bought the same one you uninstalled 2 weeks ago. I wasn't completely satisfied with the design, it doesn't cover enough. Needless to say I just ordered the Motone and it will also put my OCD to rest. Thank you for sharing!

Stuart: Thanks for all you've done to help my riding pleasure as I get back into biking after 20 years. Added a Defender to my T100 today. Running out of Motone parts I want to add! Loved the tease for upcoming parts like the brass valve stem caps! Too cold and messy on the roads in upstate New York to ride for a while, but will keep watching to see what else I can do in the garage in the meantime. Ordered Burly Voyager bags which are due in late December--already added the pannier rails. Thanks for the pleasure I get watching your videos.

Informative video thanks...question ....can you do the install with just a side stand? I assume the two bolts could line up just as well on the side stand as a paddock stand?
@brockett5 жыл бұрын
Another superb video. I laughed out loud at your comment about holes in a sump guard as that is why I have never bothered with one before. What a pity that Triumph, like all other manufacturers, have no means of knowing what customers want. Their customer relations process is essentially a means to bat away any hint of imperfection in their product.

Just an observation, I've just fitted this to my 2019 T120 and it's not a big deal but the hole for the sump plug does not line up with the sump plug on the T120, just and extra 10 mins for an oil change. On the upside it does look great and finishes the bike off really well.
@stuartfillingham5 жыл бұрын
Its a drain hole Graham, not for access to the sump plug. The OEM triumph guard is the same.
@grahamrussell91165 жыл бұрын
@@stuartfillingham that makes sense but it would be useful to be able to remove the sump plug without taking the guard off, might see if I can modify but think it might be too close to the edge.
@grahamrussell91165 жыл бұрын
I've checked with Motone directly and it is supposed to be be access for the sump drain plug, it is the right position for the Street Twin as it was originally designed for that model it but it seems not for the T120 although it fits the T120 perfectly in every other aspect and it looks great. Triumph use the same casting for the sump and you can see the alternate plug position for different models as there is a hole in the casting directly in line with the hole in the sump guard.
@stuartfillingham70115 жыл бұрын
@@grahamrussell9116 how odd. I am aware that motone used a street twin as a template however triumph must have done the same. As I said earlier the hole is in the same place on the OEM Triumph T120 version. Makes me wonder why Triumph would base it on the street twin and not the flagship model of the time. Either way oil never flows smoothly from a sump plug and trying to drain it through a small hole like that would inevitably be a very messing business with oil dripping for days or weeks afterwards. So no big deal in my mind, I would still remove it either way and save some cleanup work.

Great video Stu and lovely to see the T120 back in action. Another quality product from Motone who just seem to be getting better and better. It's a shame they don't build the bike in the first place so we don't have to keep replacing inferior parts! Ah well. All the best sir.

Good guide. It looks pretty simple. Now I know how to mount the guard under my Street Twin without try and possibly make damage. Unfortunately Motone has not included any assembly instructions for this. I'm on the way to my garage ... :-) Thank you very much.
