Triumph Scrambler 1200XE British Customs shotgun slip on exhaust

Install and sound of the British Customs Shotgun slip on exhaust on my 2022 Triumph Scrambler 1200 XE.
The 2022 Scrambler 1200 doesn’t have the cat in the header so this sound is the same as if you decat your earlier model scrambler.

I have one of THE FIRST (ordered and purchased at one of the west coasts highest sales Triumph dealers, so they were privy to the first lot of bikes to the US) 2019 1200 XE to hit the US…and at nearly 20,000 miles…I couldn’t ask for a better bike. In 20 years of riding, the 1200 feels like it was built for me. I have SP Engineering shotgun exhaust, Boosterplug and DNA filter and the thing sounds and runs like a Beast! Ride on!!!

Great video, love the way the pipes look. I have a 2023 XE and like you, haven’t found many videos on exhaust for the newer models. I’m told the cat was moved back into the muffler for bikes like ours. I’m thinking about the same exhaust, would like a little more sound but I don’t want to be obnoxious.

@@advriley yeah it does, I took it out originally before I went to slash cuts, but then put it back in because without the cat, there’s bugger all back pressure and a noticeable drop in torque down low in the rev range, plus it sounds very tinny and hollow like it’s reverberating through a tin can

Pipes look great. Can you post a video riding by so can hear outside and riding with a load on it. Im thinking about the same pipes for my 2023 they really make the bike look great too nice looking XE

I’m not sure about the DB killers but I can say it’s a beautiful tone that comes outa these! It’s not grossly loud it’s a nice rumble

The learning ECU really didn’t change much but a dang ecu flash is expensive so it’s good for now

Yes that’s correct the cat is in the muffler part on this and newer models so is a cat delete

Did you have to retune the bike for the pipes? I have a bone stock 22 XC and really want an exhaust.

You don't have to with the scrambler 1200. Start the bike and let it idle for 10 minutes after the radiator fans have come on. Then turn it off for a little bit. This allows the ECU to adapt to the new exhaust.

The 2022 has a self learning ecu so I was told to let the bike run for 20 minutes from a cold start so that’s what I did and it runs flawlessly. Not even any lean pop on deceleration. I highly recommend you get the shotgun exhaust it really sounds even better in real life.

I believe it's technically; start the bike and do not touch the throttle. Let idle until the fan comes on, wait 12 minutes, then shutoff.

How's the heat on those? Those look sick, but worried about carrying a passenger since it looks like you can't keep the number plate. Nice bike, by the way! I have a '22 XC Gold Line.

The stock exhaust / number plate get way hotter but simply the scrambler shouldn’t even have passenger pegs because no matter what that exhaust gets HOT

Love the sound of these but they look way too long. The slash cuts you had before seemed too loud. If we could split the difference it would be perfect. Any plan on trying the TEC Flank pipe?

The length is perfect to keep the heat off the shock reservoir tho 😁 I’ll admit I did like the look of the slash cut but they were to loud for me and these Shotgun pipes sound incredible. I debated the TEC exhaust like crazy but now that I have the British Customs I’m super happy and keeping it that way 🤗

What he means is the cat isn't in the header pipe. In this model is was moved to the exhaust / muffler assembly so when that is slid off the cat goes with it, so, no cat with his set up.

Oh okay that makes a lot of sense. Kind of makes this bike more desirable than the previous models, a simple slip on doubles as a decat? Sign me up. I love this bike it’s been my favorite bike since it’s came out.
