Hi Toby, agreed yes, best practice is to replace the seal, and often soft parts have a time based degradation. I inspected it and it was happy with condition (no perishing), however its a cheap part and if I realised ahead of time I would have ordered a new one. As mentioned, cleanliness is paramount in this, and any dirt on (or under) the piston seals can cause issues (more likely binding than leaks). Good luck with the job 👍

Have you checked the possibility of installing ABS in a motorcycle, I wonder if it is possible?

I haven't, shooting from the hip I expect it's possible buy expensive and difficult, as modern systems use loads of sensors in addition to wheel speed I think. I have never had an issue without it，though I am not the quickest rider. I have locked up the rear and soon learned my lesson. The front has a lot of grip and braking ability, and I get good feel from it, so never locked up. What bike do you have and do you think you need the ABS?

Triumph dealer or a parts shop would have it (or ebay if you are lucky). In the UK Fowlers are pretty good and have drawings. Looks like part number T2020325 to me (but double check!)

I thought Triumph recommend Dot 4? Tut tut!!! Lol.

Good spot and agreed they do (touched on briefly in Part 1). Dot 5.1 is backwards compatible with Dot 4, meant to have a slight performance gain though I doubt I would notice. Apologies if you already know, but Dot 5 is completely unacceptable to mix with Dot 4 (even residual) and can block up the lines. I cannot think what was going through the persons head to call two totally incompatible things Dot 5 and Dot 5.1 ...
