I have ridden the RR for almost two years now and am now 110% thrilled. - Super engine - Super chassis - perfect seating position for me (176 cm) - absolutely sufficient power & torque - ingenious unique design - exemplary operation/intuitive settings + I like the insane Triumph triple sound. But what I had to change/adapt resp. wanted to change: - Mirrors are now on the handlebars like on the RS, with the original RR mirrors I only saw myself more than 75% of the time! - The original exhaust was too long for me; I mounted short SC-Project => The sound is now even sportier: wow wow wow! - Switched from the Pirelli Super Corsa SP3 to the Continental Sport Attack 4 (due to greater tread depth & softer rubber compound) -> more reserve in the rain & less crass/hard, suits me better! Adjustment to the seat geometry: - Front fork legs pushed down 5 mm - Rear preload reduced by 3 mm => Now it also fits perfectly for use on country roads Recalls; all WITHOUT costs: - Cockpit fairing (small plastic part) melted; was replaced; now this is apparently solved - Blipper was replaced; for whatever reason, I had no problems with it - SW upgrade so that the radiator fan now runs earlier + longer. The rest was right out of the box. EVERYTHING WONDERFUL! I will probably want to ride this uniquely beautiful and high quality motorbike for a very long time.

I’ve bought every bike I’ve ever had with my heart and how it made me feel (both riding it and when it’s parked in my garage over a UK winter). This video absolutely hit the mark for me. I understand some bikers need a commuting tool, but I use a car for those journeys!

I am a Cafe Racer motorcycle fanatic. Before I could ride as a kid, I had Cafe Racer posters on the walls in my bedroom. Nortons, Triumphs, BSA's and Augusta you name it. I own a Thruxton R with the Cafe fairing and it is gorgeous. When trading my 2020 Tiger in for the 2023 Tiger GT Explorer I noticed the Speed Triple RR on the floor and thought it looked really nice. After waiting months for my new Tiger to come in the Speed Triple RR kept growing on me to the point I told my salesman to have it ready to go the next morning. As we were loading it into my trailer, a small flatbed truck dropped a crate behind my trailer. My salesman walked out, looked at the crate and told me it was my new 1200 Tiger. I picked it up the next day. My Thruxton R is a classic 20th Century Cafe Racer. My Speed Triple RR is a 21st Century Cafe Racer. Now I have 2 generations of beautiful machines sitting next to each other in the garage.

So glad you made this video about the Triumph. I watched the motorcycle media not rate it nearly because they couldn’t pigeon hole it into a category. I ride a Hayabusa and it’s just the same. Doesn’t make sense in some settings but so good in some it just takes your breath away every time you ride it. Well done!! 👍🏻

Ah my daytona R is like this. First 15 minutes are pure torture. Then you take a small break. Stretch. And after that, you get to the good roads and from there on its just pure bliss and love. The daytona is never going anywhere. It'll die in my garage. There will be other motorcycles. But by the gods. Perfection 👌

Nailed it. It’s a beautiful bike, but the ergos are too aggressive, so they are not moving at dealers in my area. Higher clip-ons (or top-mounted bars like the RS) and a taller screen would have made it a great street bike / sport tourer.

I don't think I will ever buy another sportbike. Beautiful dream, but I can get great power with great comfort as well. KTM had it right when they focused on the SDR. More than enough power for the road with a great riding position.

I fnd it entertaining to see how for years people have been crying give us a triumph with a fairing and a commited riding position and Triumph finally deliver and what happens. Journalist everywhere crying about how the reach is to far or have Triumph gone too far. I say test ride for yourself and make up your own mind. While I appreciate what the journos give us, never let that be a substitute for your own needs and your own test rides.

I understand completely why Matt went for his GSX-R 750, going for passion over practicality, in 1999 I got a new job that was an hours commute away, half an hour riding through Belfast city then another half hour on A roads, I established that a Honda Hornet or Yamaha Fazer fitted the bill but when I entered the dealership I fell in love with the just released Yamaha R6 in the works Yamaha livery, the half hour through the city was uncomfortable but the half hour blast on A roads made it worthwhile.

The RR looks beautifull. The only thing I don't like is how it has a single sided swingarm but the exhaust is in front of the wheel. Does this mean the exhaust needs to come off at every tyre change?😑😖. I have seen people with Panigales change the rear wheel during trackdays without touching the chain or brakes. That is kinda part of the point isn't it? Besides the look. The Superduke is the same, but look at the MV Agusta and Ducati in this video.

Wow what a great video! For weirdos like me, bikes are a passion. I ride for fun and I don't give a shit about practicality. I want a bike that makes me feel something. Something I can push hard and not reach the bikes limits. I read and see a lot about people complaining that the RR is uncomfortable. I'm here to tell you that you're doing it wrong. I've been riding road bikes for 42 years and I have have a beat-up, battered body. Honestly, I can ride my RR all day. I guess I don't understand why you would put your weight on your handlebars on any kind of bike but there you go. Again, super video.

I drank the Kool-Aid that this was not a sportbike but a sporty street bike. I traded in my Triumph Speed Triple 1020 RS for this bike. I could only get the bike by order in the US so I couldn't take one out for a demo ride. And Triumph USA is headquartered here in Atlanta. Go figure. Anyway, I managed to just get the break-in oil changed before deciding I can no longer stand the pain in my wrists and hands. I just traded in at a huge loss for a 2023 FTR 1200 Carbon R. I wish I could have bought this bike instead of the Triumph. The Indidan is soooo comfortable to ride, and it is just as "sporty" in performance. I have owned a lot of performance bikes. There's a reason I don't have sportbikes in my stable any more!

You can’t have much fun if you’re uncomfortable. If you spend a lot of time on the highway, in the wind at 80mph, you won’t be having that much fun on a naked bike. As I get older I find that I enjoy practicality over “fun”, however I’m not willing to sacrifice excitement altogether. It’s a tough category. I’m going to buy an FJ 09. The Superduke GT or Ducati Multistrada would fit the bill as well, but they’re a lot more expensive.
Жыл бұрын
You are completely right... but this isn't a bike for highways. it is a bike for twisties, even if you never get to see the top speed of it.

About a month ago, I did a test ride with the Speed Triple RR. The engine and transmission (including the quick shifter) were excellent. But, the riding position was just too racy for me. I felt my neck and shoulder were stiff after a test ride. The normal Speed Triple was way better for a daily street ride.

XD hehehe. Yeah. The thing is sportbikes for the road use an outdated body position. I would rather ride an MT10 or tracer 9 than an R1. Even "Slow" motorcycles are properly fast nowadays. I'd rather have 90% perfromance and 90% comfort than 100% performance and 50% comfort. Really why Sportbike sales have just been going down for years. So many bikes now give you all the perfomance you want plus all the comfort you need. Thank you for attending my TED talk. Ride what you want. XD have a great week.
Жыл бұрын
you are right, @@ralphwarom2514, but for instance I'd rather have 100%performance, 50% comfort and 100% looks, rather than 90%performance, 90% comfort and 10% looks. Nakeds are all the same buzzers nowadays... Its even hard to distinguish them...just look at new hornet and try to differentiate it from a chinese anything.

I consider myself a Triumph guy owning a dozen or so of the new ones since 1996. I love the looks but my Thruxton RR is much more comfortable than the Speed Triple RR and that was disappointing. Too much money for 15 minutes of riding.

Thought this was supposed to be a review of the 1200RR rather than an eclectic view of alternative machines. Not up to your usual review standard in my opinion.
Жыл бұрын
very nice comments... you might add the atrociously beautiful R NineT Racer to that list, that wins hands down the looks department over any other contestant for retro speedster... but then you see the price tag on this one... and you are reminded that you are in presence of a Maseratti or Aston martin. it is not an Italian ferrari, or a bugatti performance crazy thing... but a refined gentleman machine. Let's see if Triumph makes this looks (fairing) available on the street tripple for 10k less. THen it would be a best seller. I would buy one. In Ferrari Red.

How about just telling us about the bike on test, without all the cringeworthy rubbish? I clicked on this video because I wanted an opinion of the Triumph, not some patronising dribble about how some Motorcycles are bought for non practical reasons, AKA the bleeding obvious. Maybe do a car thing and test a Ferrari, and spend the whole video explaining to us, the only reason to buy one is because it is fast and fun to drive? Who knew?
