Sir You EFFING NAILED IT!!! I happen to own the Thruxton R with the Cafe Racer fairing. I ordered my Tiger 1200 GT Explorer back in March. I visited my dealer weekly to check on any info when it would arrive. Every time I was there, the speed triple was right in front of me. It grew on me to the point that I had to have it! My Thruxton is a 20'th century cafe racer. My speed Triple RR is a 21'st century Cafe racer. Evolution at it's finest! Both bikes reside in my living room when they are not being ridden. Works of Art!! I could sit and stare at them all day... Great video and Thank You for your realization! Ride SAFE and BE safe Sir! 🙌👏👏👏👏👏👍🖖✌👌🤙👋🙂🙂

Good, balanced review. I bought an RR a few months ago now without even sitting on one and it’s just had its first service. Downsides: the standard can is too quiet and doesn’t do the bike justice; it’s windy over 60mph; I do a lot of motorway riding ( I commute on the RR) and it’s quite fatiguing. I have a double bubble on order I’m hoping will help. Like all of these bikes, it’s a nightmare to keep clean! Other than that , I love it. It makes a twisty stretch of road a thing of joy and beauty. The riding position won’t be for some .. but I came from a committed full tuck sports bike .. so find the RR luxurious in comparison. If you’re thinking of one, ask Triumph for an extended test ride before laying down your moolah (or not) and make your decision based on that.
@jamesdonoghue5907 Жыл бұрын
Hi, how was the wind with the double bubble screen please? And which brand is it? To help keep a bike clean, spray it with silicone (keep away from the brakes) and wipe off - it’s simple and reduces cleaning.
@falcodog2917 Жыл бұрын
So a double bubble works pretty well on the RR. I have a Puig for my bike. It takes the air off of your chest during normal riding and makes a difference at high speeds because you can tuck in under it. I use my RR as a canyon bike so it's not that relevant for me and so I put the stock screen back on. But yeah, it works fine. @@jamesdonoghue5907

I got this bike 1 month ago and i think they nailed it. The power, the handling the comfort. I really think it's one of the best sportbike for the road. Of course the electronics could've been better. I think they made a better job with that on my 1050RS. My only real downside with this bike is the Quickshifter that stops working when the bike gets too hot. Apart from that, I'm 5'7 and the position is spot on perfect for me to enjoy it on the road and to rip it on the track!

Great review as always Chopsy. I, as a proud owner of my Speed Triple RR definitely love it the more I ride it. Yes the screen annoys me a lot too, and despite the bloody restrictions of the electronics even limiting the top speed to 260kmh I still enjoy every second of riding it. Bu the way finding the neutral becomes easier after a few thousand kms. My shifter became more responsive after around 2000kms of riding.

700 miles into ownership of my STR RR, 55 years, 90kg, 5'11" & I find it comfy, no issues at all. I'm addicted to riding it. I also have a 22 Tuono V4 & I've hardly touched it since getting the RR. As you say very easy & satisfying to ride. I find the suspension in Sport is too hard for the roads I ride but keeping in Sport & setting the Suspension to comfort seams the best for me. I have a few thousand miles on my RR and I still can't wait to ride it. I use mine to rail in the canyons. Not the hills with twisty bits you see in the videos people post. @@stevenwalk8564 hi mate, what are the main things that you enjoy better than the tuono? Thanks
@stevenwalk85642 жыл бұрын
@@nickloborec1416 I like that it feels smaller, lighter, and more compact than the Tuono. Probably because it is. The RR feels to me like a more modern design. The RR has better turn in and transitions in the canyons where I ride and it is rock solid on the side of the tire. It's simply easier for me to ride it fast and I have more fun on it. I also find the RR way more comfortable but I grew up on sport bikes so your results might vary. They are both very fast, entertaining, excellent bikes but the RR fits me and my style of riding better.

You said one thing near the end of your video about the height of the bars. The RR has genuine straight clip on's. When I bought the Fairing for my Thruxton R from Triumph it came with lower handlebar mounts than the stock Thruxton bar mounts. I didn't use them with the fairing and kept the stock mounts on. I am going to try and see if they will work on my RR. The lower ones still have a 1 and a half inch rise to them and would be perfect as you mentioned. BRILLIANT and thanks for that! Just bought one from a local triumph dealer… changed from a 1050RS..your review seems more balanced than another channel I could mention. I agree the pegs are different to a sportsbike and I actually feel more comfortable with them then I did on my RS… the bars are low but part of me wanted a sportsbike experience again without a full on race rep and this fits the bill.. I personally think it’s looks amazing especially the carbon fibre all over the bike. I thought I had made a bit of an error with the comfort when I first started riding it especially on a commute but I now realise it’s something I need to get used to again. Power and handling are definitely the plus points and the noise of course !! Neutral is deffo a problem and can be irritating after a long ride, the dash is also a bit laggy, I wonder if this is something triumph could look to fix with a firmware upgrade!! Great video and review.

Gearchange is very very stiff & nigh on impossible to get in to neutral & a dash that is still waking up after you have started etc plus a few software & electronic glitches. Amazing in small doses but they have made a bike for rich people in there 50s like me who are over the cramped sports bike riding position but give the bike an identical riding position, we will never know that their thinking was. Yep, those clip-ons are too low. I’ve sat on the RR at my dealer several times wanting to like the riding position but I always come away with the same thought “why couldn’t they be just a couple inches higher”. I’ve even contemplated the idea of cutting into the fairing to make room for higher clip-ons. Such a gorgeous bike, but that supersport riding position is enough to keep me away. Still searching for the perfect bike myself…

Hopefully Helibars come out with a set for it, then it will be Perfect!

Would you compare it to the katana? The only difference is katana handle bars.

Um I would say Katana is a bit more of a naked

Interesting to see Mr Neeves of MCN absolutely slated this bike

Just done 1500miles around Scotland on my S1000RR, used cruise control a lot and it helped keep my wrists feeling fresh. Without it I’m sure my riding would of been worse with aching sore wrists. It’s something I’d hope the police would take into account, providing your not waving your hands like a twat haha.

Yes exactly, you can also steer with your body so it's not the same as a car

While learning to drive a car in the '70's my driving instructor (a lady... (Val ...🙂)....pretty rare back then) would nag me something rotten if I held onto the gearstick longer than necessary. She said "if anything happens while you only have one hand on the wheel, I can guarantee that you'll have wished you had had two" Even now, as soon as I engage the 'cruise control' thingybob on the bike to take a breather, ('clip on' style bars) she's sat on my shoulder nagging....🤣 (She was IAM Instuctor)

The problem Triumph have, is they designed the bike with a cafe racer look, the bikini fairing will not allow for a higher bar position without cutting away most of the plastic and shape or making it much more bulbous. Its surprising for anyone who hasn’t tried fitting higher bars to a bike how difficult it is to get the bars to fit and clear everything.

I believe that would constitute "riding without due care and attention" so yes, it is illeagle for a rider not to be in control of the machine.

I love the style of this bike (the half fairing), I love the sound and the triple engine, I love the quality. I don’t like the front light mount which is really at odds with the fairing surrounding it. Also this bike is so boring to look at it could easily be a bmw. I’d probably still buy it but not to feast my eyes. I do get why some like its looks though. It’s almost there…

can you not change the bars?

Yes I suspect you could, I could manage as it is but if touring would like to raise them

Thank goodness your review is much more balanced than another another YT channel I could mention. That review was utter sh1t and I won’t be wasting my time with their videos any more. Brilliant review Chopsy for restoring my belief in reviewers. Yes I don’t agree with any reviews that are ‘Everything is brilliant’ or ‘Everything is terrible’. Wonderful video sir!

Nice bike. I just don’t like the way the front looks. BTW the difference between unlawful and illegal…………….unlawful is against the law and illegal is a sick bird !

If you're looking for the perfect bike, then choose the GSX-R1000 K6 or the 2008-2010 Fireblade and you're set.

I think the owner experiences of faults, particularly in relation to electronics, has tarnished the reputation of this bike. Not surprised that dealers are having to discount them. Even as a previous Triumph owner & fan it’s a big no from me.
