I bought a Speed Twin about a month ago. I considered the new Harley liquid cooled Sportster which is a very interesting product but the Triumph to me is just a better bike for less money. After test riding both the choice was clear. My speed twin puts a smile on my face.

The sportster is a nice looking bike. We did about 3000 miles in USA on a couple of Harley's the summer just gone. That's sort of what led me down the path to triumph I was after a similar experience but turns out the bikes designed in the UK perform better on the UK roads (😮SHOCK😮).

A video that shows the bike through corners...excellent. Too may YT vids that have all the talk about the handling and brakes yet ride down wide straight roads....and frankly are complete guff.

Mega bit of riding there. I’ve just bought a 2023 speed twin. They are actually really good in the twisty roads. I’m booked in for a run in service Saturday so then I can get few more miles under my belt. I’ve also got a 23 plate gsxs 1000 and tbf for the roads where I live b roads with lots of bends think I prefer the triumph. Where was your ride? Looks like the dales?

I have the 2022 Speed Twin... X-Pipe and custom dyno tune got us 103hp at the wheel... Ohlins shocks, K-Tech forks, steering damper and its a hell of a bike... Very capable sportbike...

I'm discovering my speedy, recently bought (december 17th), and i can't get out a smile of my face. I don't go over 4000 rpm for the moment, but it's so funny to ride. Oups i get 5000, don't tell the dealer🤣. She's a little heavy, and the handle bar has not a large angle, i was quite stuck in a narrow place to make a U turn. And last ther is no central stand, not easy to store in my garage...but in a one word: i'm so happy🤗

I didn't mind it, although suspension settings are some sort of dark magic as far as im concerned. The bike did get unsettled a little in corners but I wasn't sure if that was the suspension/chassis/squared off tires or just me riding it wrong. I think the handling of the whole thing was great for what the bike is designed for. Yes you could upgrade it a little, and if I had the money i probably would, but it doesnt exactly NEED it. Did you try the triumph scrambler? Before getting the speed twin? I'm torn between the two

@@chainandsprocket13 I didn't try the scrambler due to lack of leg length. But I love the dashboard of the Speed and couldn't get used the one triumph built in the scrambler. But I heard a lot about the scrambler and it's capabilities offroad. It's not all looks. You can have some serious fun with her offroad

I'm assuming a solid double line means no passing, even there? Yeah, I wouldn't say the speed twin is an gramps's bike close to 100 hp, right. And the 6th gear gives it a much better higher speed range. Sure it's no 160 hp sport bike, but like u said, its not supposed to be. Take care.

Yeah this is in UK, usually the lines are because of a hidden dip or upcoming corner/junction that would mean approaching vehicles before you have time to complete an overtake (at least that's my understanding).That particular road I know well and you can see easily far enough ahead to make the manouvre on a bike that fast, its also one of the last chances you get before your visibility is too restricted to safely pass, so I decided to make an executive decision and take my opportunity rather than sit behind a car for the next 30 minutes. 🤷‍♂️

The traction control is the only thing allowing you to think, your at the limit of the bikes power. With the TC disabled in sport mode, it's gonna pull the front wheel off the ground with the slightest flick of the wrist. I'm nearing 1000mi. on my '22 Speed Twin. I'm anxious to get the ECU flashed with a hot tune, to take advantage of the numerous mods I've done. There's a good 20-30hp waiting to be uncorked. The other day I let it get up to 120mph for a brief few seconds, and you can really tell the factory tune is dialed WAY back above 100mph. It accelerates from 0-100 smoothly, but above 100mph, it's just pathetic.

@@rottweilerfun9520 The engine is factory stock. I bought the British Customs compitition X-pipe from the dealer with the bike new. Other than taking the baffles out of the mufflers and cutting the rubber inlet snorkel to the air filter box down, to leave only the mouth. The only other real performance mods I've done that could increase power, are the Ducati Spacers for the drive by wire throttle assembly. And went up a tooth on the countershaft sprocket. The rest of the upgrades are astetics except the K-tech Razor III shocks. From the research I've done, most estimates are saying that the performance upgrades I've done should at least make up for any HP losses due to the elevation I'm riding at. So that gets me back to sea level output numbers before an ECU flash. With a custom ECU tune most estimates are in the 20-30 hp range with the mods I've done. Right now the bike pulls hard from 0-100 mph, then you can feel the stock tune holding it back till it reaches the 130mph factory set speed limit. All the ECU tune will really do is allow full throttle at all speeds, where the factory tune never allows more than 80-85% percent at any point. So if the bikes factory HP rating is around 100. Even a completely stock machine will gain 15 HP with an ECU flash. I'm expecting almost double that with the mods I've done. But most importantly for me is the throttle response above 100mph. That's where the bike will act much different, and should wind right up to near 150mph at WOT.

@@kentucky_brew3678 Nope. U.S. citizen. Haven't sent the ECU out yet for a hot tune. It's not a critical thing I "need" to do. And it's $300-400 dollars, depending on who does it. I'm reluctant to pay that much for a one size fits all tune. I'd rather have the bike on a dyno, and a custom tune created. That's even more expensive, but probably what I'll eventually do.

Great choice of roads .. I am always thinking of that little red car pulling out (13:03 ) when one is pushing on .or that pile of sand or dung in the transition ..Glad you know your route .. Just remember it is those little unknowns that can get you ... Is this Yorkshire ? Amazing countryside ..All the best from New England and thanks for ride !

Did you buy one? Pilot road 5 or 6 tyre's, transformation in handling. Great bike, engine and chassis are fantastic, Tank to small, seat too hard, suspension is shit when the road gets bumpy. That's why some demons have upgraded rear shock s and seats

Quick Heads-up, Go and look at some of the "not legal advice" posted by some of the other youtube channels (44Teeth and MCN) around that double white line overtake... Maybe worth a re-edit... :D You License will thank you in the long run... Maybe also blur the speedo when needed :) or put a sticker on it... Other than that, awesome Vids... Keep it up... Luv the back roads...

Good advice, I love a bit of @FourtyFourTeeth. I remember seeing some of those videos a while back, I'll have to check them out again. As for the speed, I usually would blur out the speedo but I honestly wasn't going all that fast here it's just a bit of cinematic magic (slow shutter speed + ND filters to give more of a sense of speed). Glad you liked it. 👍

They were actually the most functional mirrors I've ever used. For once I could see behind me and not just my elbows. They did feel weirdly restrictive though
