from the USA here, every time i see you turn left into 2 way lanes it terrifies me but have to remember that you all drive on opposite side of the road haha- but love the vid and im thinking of getting one of these as my first bike- only rode dirt bikes prior as a kid

I have a 2019 ST and fully agree with your comments. Having been motorcycling since 1976 this is the most fulfilling and capable bike I have ever owned. I used to love my T140 / T150 / T160 back in the day but they’re not as reliable. The ST has character and reliability. It’s also got a very flexible engine, as you demonstrated. It can just mooch about or do the sporty stuff. Handling is spot on. I love it.

I was so excited lol :D ( I was in holiday in England last month for 10 days only ) Love the video. Thanks for the efford. My Speed Twin 1200 will be delivered in the end of September hopefully. 🤞 Ride safe 🏍

Lovely bike I had been contemplating as a step up. However when I came to sit on one I found the pegs to be too high and too far back to be comfortable. It gave me a real acute angle in my knees and hips which would cause me crap on longer rides. Maybe it's being over 50 but even my CB650R gives my legs a more relaxed riding position. In contrast I found the T120 to be almost like sitting in your favourite armchair.

Nice points you captured mate, especially the touring aspect on the bike. I'm narrowing down between this and the K Z900RS. What factors made you disqualify the Z, may I ask? Certainly it has more HP and larger fuel tank; styling is beautiful too. Just cannot make up my mind. Any tips appreciated

Nice ride especially around those twisty lanes in the New Forest - It's where I did most of the "running in" on my street triple. I love those pops and bangs on the overrun of the twin, it almost makes me want to trade in - almost. Stay safe and have fun :>)

Just got back from a week in the Picos mountains, Northern Spain. 1000 miles. Hair pin and switch back heaven. Changes so far that I've made is, Throttle spacers mod. (Eliminates slack) Decat and weslake shorty pro exhaust Nitron R1 rear shocks Sintered brembo brake pads front and rear. Avon Spirit ST tyres. Thruxton fork brace Had a tuono V4 and a MT10 in the group, which I also had a short blast on. Both had quick shifters and auto blippers which is nice, but it's almost too easy to go fast on those bikes. You have to work abit on the speed twin which makes it all the more engaging. Apart from the straights where you are hitting over 100mph ( private roads of course) there was not alot in it at all. I was super impressed with how it performed and handled. The torque coming out of corners is absolutely delicious, all whilst averaging 55mpg. it can still just cruise and bimble around, but doesn't feel out of place when you are pressing on, all in a timeless design. Front and rear suspension is a must have upgrade if you like to ride briskly. Over the winter I'll be getting nitron fork cartridges, and I'll be doing the camshaft upgrade, that will get around 10-13hp at the rear wheel. Then she will be perfect IMO. To summarize, it's my perfect bike, and my favourite to date. it's highly capable out the box, just needs a few upgrades where triumph cut corners.

Going up a tooth on the front sprocket and cutting the factory airbox inlet boot back, so just the mouth remains, is the cheapest mods I did that made huge improvements. The gen 1 Speed Twins are a bit handicapped so everything helps.

Bought one in november 2021 wrecked it in April^^ Waiting for possible repair. Insurance is gonna tell me soon. Bought a Daytona 955i as a spare bike. 130ps really pulls when its revs but my wrists hurt after 6 hourse of driving^^ The Speed Twin was more comfortable and better in the sharp twisties
@DrHakennase3 ай бұрын
iSwitched the 955i for a Panigale V2 Bayliss. But my opinion still stands Speed Twin best overall. Maybe ill switch my Pani for a Rocket 3R

I was thinking of one of these to replace my older T100. Not so sure now. I'm still not sure I trust myself to be sensible with a faster bike. Perhaps the T120 is right for me.

T120 is no slouch but it will certainly be a bit tamer if that's a concern. You need to have faith in yourself Steve 😉

'22 in Storm Grey. 27 mods to date. Even after going up a tooth on the front sprocket, I still find it a bit lacking when cruising at around 5000rpm. I'm gonna do the DNK tune on the ECU soon. I ride alot at 80-100mph cruising speeds in Montana. I'd like it to have just a bit more giddy-up above 5000rpm.
@muckle82 жыл бұрын
@Andrew Becker. 3 teeth down on the rear sprocket and you could ride in a gear lower if you wanted instant snap , or snick into top and glide! 😃
@andrewbecker37002 жыл бұрын
@@muckle8 ah, the gearing in 6th isn't spread out enough from 5th. The final drive ratio isn't gonna solve the issue. The factory ecu tune is very limited above 100mph. The only way to get more throttle response above 5000rpm, is to modify the tune. I've got everything else right where I want it.
@muckle82 жыл бұрын
So it’s a close ratio box yes? Could you go one more tooth up on the engine sprocket? That would give you more end speed in 5th and 6th?
@andrewbecker37002 жыл бұрын
@@muckle8 your not hearing me. The final drive ratio will not effect throttle response at any rpm. The ecu doesn't care exactly what speed your travelling at in what gear. Changing final drive ratio has zero effect on throttle response at a given speed. The ecu is governed to only allow soo much throttle, regardless of the input from you.
@andrewbecker37002 жыл бұрын
@@muckle8 no, it's not a close ratio gearset. But the spread from 5th to 6th could be bigger. The bike isn't really designed to go much faster than 125-130 tops. Can it go faster? Yes. Will those speeds be safe for the average rider? No.

Great content mate. I'm about to buy a Bonneville, but haven't decided just yet. I really like the Speed Twin and the Scrambler 1200. I'm 6ft and 92kg and will use the bike with with a pillion. Great video! I have a 2014 street triple 675.I would like to change it. I am looking for a comfortable and good sounding and cool looking modern classic bike. I think speed twin 1200 is pretty good for me. Just I have a question; my street triple has a bit vibration on pegs and handlebar if you compare to 4 cylinder suzuki gsxs 750 and naked 4 cylinder japanese bikes.I know they are completely different bikes but could you please let me know are there any vibration on the speed twin 1200 2022 model year?Many thanks in advance.

No considerable vibration on my 2019 model, best to test ride and check yourself but they should be fine! 👌

What’s the overall cost of ownership Mpg? As just looking at one as my only bike for commuting and weekend get always Does it generate much engine heat?
@NoPlaceToBe.6 ай бұрын
hi mate, MPG you are looking at around 60 which is pretty good. Really doesn't cost much to keep running. The biggest expenses are the standard annual service and insurance which is the same for any bike. Never had any issue with the engine heat. Should be a solid bike for both fun trips and commuting
