What a nice therapy to be able to work on your motorcycle to make it all you want it to be. I enjoyed your video, thank you for taking the time. Goes to show that our motorcycles are indeed expressions of our individual taste and ideas.

I'm with you on the mirror swap - I went for Rizoma Quantum. I have the Arton Works instrument gauge update on my Xmas list - definitely worth a look. Tip: plug those Allen bolts with plastic caps which will hide some of the ugly fasteners.

The low risers might be my favorite mod you’ve done aside from maybe the exhaust. Would love to see a wider angle picture of that. And what a relief to change that center nut?!

Full respect to you, Adam, and to each his own, but I'm not a fan at all of these mods. The new bar clamps look cheap and pedestrian compared to the gorgeous ST logoed stock clamp. Switching to antennae mirrors from bar end ruins the modern classic/cafe look. IMO you're going to Japanese bike styling here. I'd like to hear if you like the changes functionally after riding a bit with them. Love the British flag engine covers, though!!

I'm planning on risers with the stock bars to hopefully make more comfortable. No loctite on the handlebar bolts? Usually I see you put loctite on everything?

from what i can see is these push the bars forward around 18-20mm and down 20-25mm is that correct adam, thanks steve

@@AdamCroll I also thought you raised not lowered until I watched video. I just got my speed twin and my back is killing me after 70km on the bike from the bent over stance. I came from a FZ09, which is actually more upright and less pressure on the wrists than a speed twin, with no back pain like I have on the speed twin. I'll be getting risers for sure for a more comfortable ride for me. Cheers for the vids

Like the risers, or lowerers! Much prefer a bit of lean as to bolt upright.....BTW, why did the centre yoke nut come off?
@AdamCroll4 жыл бұрын
The yoke nut was marred up from me installing it carelessly, so I just replaced it.

I don’t understand the handlebars risers and clamps change. I really like the one that came on the bike. I also like the bar end mirrors. They provide excellent rear vision. But in states allowing filtering I can understand.
@davidrcordeiro4 жыл бұрын
The risers seem to be shorter then the stock ones, giving a sportier stance to the rider position (without going down the change handlebar route) which in turn will promote a sportier riding style. At least that’s how I’m seeing it.
@rscaryrsc4 жыл бұрын
@@davidrcordeiro Oh, okay. I like the more upright position, especially in town with traffic. I wouldn’t mind the bars even a little higher. 😊
@davidrcordeiro4 жыл бұрын
@@rscaryrsc then you have the Motone Up-And-Over Riser Kit as an option

My original idea behind the risers was mainly so I could mount my phone dead center on the bars, along with just a new look, I actually love the original with the speed twin logo it’s a bummer to loose that. But after having to have my iPhone camera replaced twice from vibration issues I’ll be avoiding that from now on. Tho the new risers are shorter I didn’t really feel much difference as far as comfort. In regard to the mirrors, yes it’s mainly a CA land splitting benefit and they look much nicer than stock up close!
@davidrcordeiro4 жыл бұрын
@@AdamCroll option: QuadLock with anti vibration dampener. I also had the camera issue and it’s very common on iPhone 11 models.

Hi Adam, where did you get the bar clamp replacements for the mirrors, and what size did you go with? Good tutorial!

Is the bar end cap and the mirror mount adapter included with the mirror?
@AdamCroll4 жыл бұрын
Bar end cap is separate, it’s a triumph part. The Brembo threaded mirror clamps are separate as well, they have a standard thread for the right side and reverse thread for the left side.

Roughly how much lower-height are these risers sitting than the stock ones? Sort of curious about getting shorter-height bars on mine - I don't want to get anywhere near clip-ons, but these might do. Cheers. BTW, the affiliate link you have seems to think those risers don't actually fit the Speed Twin - any troubles?

They were a perfect fit for me. About an inch lower.

Interesting going with lower risers. If all other things were equal between the two bikes and you were going to do the initial purchase over again, would you buy a Thruxton for the lower position?
@AdamCroll3 жыл бұрын
I wouldn’t, the thruxton is even lower with its bars and overall I love the look of the ST more than the thruxton.

@@AdamCroll When I test rode a Speed Twin some months ago, I felt that the riding position was just a smidge too upright for such and aggressive bike. It's honestly one of the few things that is keeping me from it. Perhaps some lower handlebars is the way to go?
@AdamCroll3 жыл бұрын
@@TheNickolasPaul the slight drop does help, for me it’s not to extreme of a difference while still pulling you down from upright a bit. Have you ridden a T100/120? Talk about sitting straight up!😄. The Speedy feels much better that those In my opinion.
