Got a 2021 Triumph 765 street triple r for my first bike. I’m 6’8” so the ergos were a Big consideration in picking one. They’re were many issues on trying to find a bike that would work, from handle bars hitting my knees, some tanks stuck out sharper at the top and my legs wouldn’t fit under them. The triumph triple felt good, like I could ride it, and for a while before I felt cramped. I’m 256lbs so the rear spring feels a bit weak. I have no static sag if I dial it in for its appropriate range of movement and weight. It’s a really fun bike that I can go do some twistys on, but then don’t mind at all riding into town for a coffee meet. I never thought about getting a Triumph honestly. There really wasn’t an overwhelming amount of media on it, yet as I was researching other bikes it kept coming up in a comparison as a benchmark. Ultimately the 765 had too much power for a first bike, but road mode drops it’s aggressiveness down quite a bit. Feels like a 25% reduction over all. The damn torque coming it more and more as you accelerate in a gear took some getting used to. It will pick up the wheel a little and then speed up how fast it’s picking it up. Getting the wheel up is really not a problem but I do have to intentionally avoid it trying to mouse trap me. Super playful bike. The TC has saved my in the rear coming out 3 definitive times. It was like the hand of god just put the rear wheel back while an noticeable orange light flash tells me it happening. I wish the traction control was separate from the anti wheely controls. When the TC is enabled all the time to start thinking you can just peg the throttle more and you get trained that way, especially when you have it in road mode(which feels like a power reduction) as well. The first time I unleashed the bike from TC and put it in sport mode I continuously kept picking the front wheel up, even in the middle of turns. Sometimes way up in a turn and not on purpose. I don’t realize when the front is off the ground so much of the time when I’m getting after it. I really only notice when it sets down, which is only sometimes noticeable. I really love the bike, but now where do I go from here??? Wind protection and comfort more for my size on a tiger or multistrada? It is there a superbike I might fit on without putting a white line on my visor from the windscreen? This bike definitely left me in an interesting place.

I've had both the smaller brothers, the KTM 790 duke but a tuned version (decat / remap / dna filter) and the Street Triple 675 RX, both brilliant bikes. The STR smoother and the 790 more hooligan. Suspension and brakes were a bit better on the STR as well. Changed the duke's discs to wave discs and replaced the pads because I wasn't really amazed by it's braking power. The bike wasn't perfect but I had so much fun on it. Sold it in a stupid moment. The newer bikes really raised the bar with suspension, brakes and power. Still doubting which bike to choose. Unlucky KTM replaced the 890 R by a 990 non R, don't like the looks of that bike and don't like the lack of better suspension and brakes. I absolutely love the look of the Street Triple RS.

Great video! How would you rank Street, Duke vs RS660?
@shauns5278 Жыл бұрын
RS660 isn't even in the same league it has tech in spades but totally different class of performance. It's closer to the CBR650R but more sport focused but still being comfy. Many insurance firms I have noticed are actually labeling it as a sport tourer. I would still 100% own one especially if you're interested in starting to do track days but the Duke and Street are a tier above performance wise. Also all the RS660 vs R7 comparisons are rubbish I can understand WHY they're being compared but again the RS660 is so far above the R7 it's a joke. The R7 is just a reskinned MT-07 that wants to give you long term back pain or force you to hit the gym. The MSRP of $8,999 isn't bad but haven't seen a single dealer in my area asking less than $9400 for one and that's before fees. The Aprilia is just priced too well.

Too much weight on the wrists for a comfortable road bike. That's the whole point of these street nakeds and super nakeds. I have had multiple sports bikes over the years [Been riding since the 70's] but they are too uncomfortable in comparison. I now have a 1100 Tuono and it's streets ahead of a sports bike for the road.

The triple engine in the MT09 is so much better for the road… To track focused but if you want a track bike there’s so may better options. It one of the better looking bikes though
@shauns5278 Жыл бұрын
Umm as someone who owned an MT-09 and moved to a Street Triple this couldn't be further from the truth. The MT-09 is just too aggressive and ALWAYS wants you to abuse it yes the ludicrous torque is amazing especially in town but it's again always aggressive it's hard to ride the bike lazily and if you're a commuter that relies on their bike it's utterly exhausting long term as a daily rider. The Street has just enough Torque downlow and will even pull a power wheelie in 1st and 2nd when in track mode but the electronics are night and day above the MT-09 and it can be chill and lazy when you want it to, not truly exploding until above 8K RPM. The only benefit of the MT-09 is the bar position if you have a bad back but the Street's bars like most nakeds can easily be adjusted and the throttle response is so much smoother it's an absolute joke. Not to mention the fit and finish the MT-09 feels like an extremely fun but cheap toy the Street Triple is refined in every sense of the word.
@Steve-motorcycles Жыл бұрын
@@shauns5278 I highly disagree. The street triple engine lacks low down torque and makes all its power high in the rev range. Ideal for the track, less ideal for the street
@shauns5278 Жыл бұрын
@@Steve-motorcycles So you think 45ft/lb at sub-3K is low? That's what a middle weight I4 is making max the Street is making about 50ft/lb by 5K then it has its noticeable jump to 57ft/lb around 8-9K. That is plenty for any hooligan shenanigans and PLENTY for the street, people often label the SV650 and MT-07 the perfect commuters and they're making a hair under 50ft/lb max and everyone knows how fun the MT-07 is. The MT-09 is already making 90% of its torque by 3K there's nothing linear and chill there, it only gains about 5ft/lb more at 7K and immediately begins dropping off. The MT-09 is a blast but as a single bike owner that also commutes 90% of the time on his bike I would never buy one again.
@Steve-motorcycles Жыл бұрын
@@shauns5278 each to their own. I own a gen 3 MT09 and it’s more manageable However, I loved the gen 1 with the instant throttle response. The Street triple is an excellent bike with great handling and top notch parts. It’s just not my choice of a power delivery.
