Had quite a selection ofTriumphs over the years but the one with sweetest engine was a 500 twin ( iron heads). It never let me down and wasn’t much slower than my mates. bonneville.😊

I like dogs & motorcycles . The owner of the dog should have it under control & on a leash near public roads . As for the 🔔end who was encouraging the dog with shouts of kill , he was asking for a swift attitude adjustment . Getting to the main subject ,the bike is sounding & running as sweet as a nut ,handles those bumpy country lanes well ,& also very pleasing to the eye . I would suggest you have another well satisfied customer . 👍

@@paulhenshaw4514 Indeed. I always thought of it as a 500 twin-and-a-half! Great bike to ride...but not such a great bike to manufacture...when I interviewed Al Cave (BSA Small Heath factory manager) he described the crankcases as 'vertical sandwiches'. It's a shame they didn't progress to a horizontal-split crankcase...could have been made so much faster and cheaper, and with far more reliability.

I was bitten by a Doberman after going to see an old metal spinet friend of mine , bloody dog used to have free run between buildings, I always got away from him in time but on one occasion I thought the bugger wasn’t there and he got me leg , whilst still trying to ride away , hope it doesn’t happen to you mate , really like your videos 👍

I really enjoyed watching that vidio. I used to have a Tiger 100 ss back in the day. You're right they do need reving but you can sling them about like a 250 with the good handling. Mine could see 105 mph but the valves were bouncing at that speed. Nice one Paul.

I used to have a 5ta, Lovely bike, light, nimble, quick enough, and with the later 8" TLS front brake, stopped well, It's the same brake as fitted to the original Trident, Don't forget, the 500 twin won Daytona, And came 2nd at Spa behind Ago, I have a fondness for the 500 bikes, You certainly enjoyed the ride

Nice ride. You must have taken some on the shine from off the clutch plates, as there was a tiny bit of slip early on. Hope that the owner doesn't want a discount for you having enjoyed yourself with that.
@piearm12715 ай бұрын
Nicely done, a few tweaks from an expert and a nice looking bike runs and rides as well as it looks. With how well it runs with a single carb the extra setup and maintenance on two carbs seems hard to justify unless you ride most of the time at very high speeds. Owner must be chuffed.

MAYBE…Formally write to the dog owner with a warning that if he doesn’t keep his (mad!) dog under control and on a lead, you will file a complaint against him to the Police. He shouldn’t be allowed to keep a dog if he can’t control it and ensure that other road users are safe. I’ve nothing against pets and actually like most dogs but the owner of that one is surely not taking responsibility. Oh…well done with the 5TA :) 👍

Very pretty machine and now sounding good as well; well done Phil. I could see that the whole front end looked from a later model than the distributor engine but out of interest can you advise, has it also been upgraded to 12v?
@paulhenshaw45145 ай бұрын
Thanks and yes, it has 12 volts [Paul].
@sussaxonsarthois68155 ай бұрын
@@paulhenshaw4514 Very sorry Paul; don't know why I made that mistake. Apologies. The reason I asked, is that I saw the distributor contains the specifically-designed internal condenser, which is discreet and neat. For my T100A (1961, distributor and bathtub) I was told that that condenser would not work with my proposed 12v conversion. From my limited knowledge, I understood that capacitors were not sensitive to voltage, and it seems this T100 proves it.
@paulhenshaw45145 ай бұрын
Correct, condensers are not voltage sensitive, 6 or 12 volts is fine for them.

Maybe you (or a viewer) could answer an old question Paul. All these old Smiths chronometric speedometers have a white radial at about the 30 mile an hour level. I’ve always wondered what it was for, going back to my 1957 A10 BSA, all those years ago.

When your first video of this machine was issued, I thought it looked like a 5TA (fins and distributor - I hated that distributor) but I don't know enough about the T100 to be sure. Valve clearances on my old 3TA were 0.010" for inlet and exhaust, if memory serves.
