I remember your review of the Himalayan 411 & your praise for it. I'm 100% sure that bike can do everything the Tiger 800 can do right through winter & more, plus much better fuel economy, considerably cheaper to buy new or used, better low down traction making it a better & safer bad weather or road surface bike...& much lighter. In all honesty in these times of a still 70mph speed limit & max 40, 50 & 60 on most open roads in the UK & Europe, the only advantages of an 800 etc, are getting to those meagre speeds a second or tow quicker & over taking...but isn't motorcycling about the freedom, the adventure the simplicity? The likes of the Himalayans, have all, wouldn't you say.

Must say I agree, the low seat of the himmi would also benefit the rider on bad winter roads

This mutter really resonated with me! I love my modern classics and for years resisted the ADV bikes for their looks. Finally couldn't resist and added a Tiger 900 GT to my garage...and I love it. Smooth, fast and comfortable, rode 400 miles yesterday in pretty cold weather and was fine, would have been broken on my Bonneville. I know what you mean, its a modern machine and doesn't have the soul or character of a classic but is very enjoyable to ride nonetheless, and I'm lucky enough to have both bikes. I will say my 900 GT was $17,000 out the door, a GT Pro would have been close to 20K!

Hi taym I totally agree with what you say about one of the best looking adv bikes on the market I looked at them the other day at Suffolk triumph and they are very nice but yesterday Friday I went orwells and looked about sat down with Stefan and said I like the Suzuki gs 800s same as yours I sat on there demo one it’s grey I think and we’ll fitted me like a glove and 7yrs warranty I think I’m getting one in the blue never tried it out as I went in the car but it’s deffo top of my list ahead of triumph t120,and the speedmaster I think that’s what I’m going to have especially after all reviews I’ve read including yours a fantastic bike. them tigers are nice but adv bikes are to heavy and high for me now ride safe mate

I'm old and grumpy but I think it's a good looking motorcycle. I don't understand why most manufacturers mount the exhaust silencers so high. Mount them a little lower and allow luggage space above the exhaust. Adjusting the flow from the radiator using deflectors or even tubes could be perfect for a winter motorcycle. I still use a pair of cameI wool knee warmers that my mom knitted 46 years ago. I always rode a motorcycle to save money. I bought my first moped in 1973 for £ 10 and my first motorcycle, a Suzuki GT550, in 1978 for £ 800. I'm currently riding a SV650 I bought for £ 3500.

Ahh, the Tiger. It’s so easy, reliable and smooth I almost feel like I’m on a Japanese bike. The visceral emotion one gets from a big twin is lacking. The only problem is that it’s such a great bike! I get off my 74 Ducati 750 sport and on to the Tiger and it’s Heaven! I put a Scorpian on mine and it enhanced the sound nicely without being too loud. Lovely burble when you back it off. As you may have noticed in my photos, I mounted Bridgestone AX41s for our miles of dirt roads. We’ve gotten over our heads once or twice in the backcountry and the GT Pro handled the situations easily. No jumps or power slides, mind you. I’m curious what your thoughts on the improvements. More power is always welcome, but I hear about the linked braking, a reduction of vibration, a more comfortable seat and perhaps a smoother quick shifter. I was trying to sell my 22 and pick up a new one but the cost was prohibitive. Maybe a used one down the road. Do you think the improvements warrant that?

Not sure, I think you’d have to ride them back to back to find out😁 I would be very interested to hear what you think 😁

Fate kept me from a Tiger 900 Rally Pro. No dealers within about 4 hours of me. I could have overcome that one though. The one that derailed me was Harley Calling me up for a Pan America Special when they were launched. I'd had my KLR along with all my road focused bikes, Dressers and Sport-Tourers. I knew that I wanted a performance ADV bike though. So I jumped at the chance to put the Pan America through it' paces. It was awesome, when it ran. The Triumph, I'm convinced, would have satisfied my ADV needs and I think they would satisfy 90% of most riders actual needs. Touring, Commuting, Sensible Off-Road stuff. In the end I'd had enough of the Harley's tech issues, KTM Manufacturer/Dealer attitudes combined with some tech issues, and went lower tech with the Tenere 700. (I love the T7) I'll always think it might have turned out differently if I'd just gotten it right with a Tiger instead of the Pan Am.
@TAYM
@TAYM 3 ай бұрын
Thanks PW 😁 I did like the Pan America when I tried it 😁 and probably would have chosen it too 😁 have they sorted the tech issues now?
@pinkiewerewolf
@pinkiewerewolf 3 ай бұрын
@@TAYM They keep trying software updates but it is still hit & miss from what I’ve heard. Even from riders that chastised me, bought a Pan Am, then ran into similar issues. My advice to Harley was to take all the tech off, except for what they had to have (ABS) until they could sort it out. The infotainment system on my Ultra Classic is another example of dodgy electronics on Harleys part. An element of their issues is what we would call Harley Tax, they want to run proprietary systems and parts instead of adapting industry standards.
