Mines done 5000 miles in the UK, I would recommend changing the front sprocket, one tooth up to a 17 tooth, drops 70 mph cruising in top gear by around 700RPM, less buzzy and more MPG.

Would an 18 tooth be too much?

After one month of testing bike I decided for this one. As a beginner I found this bike perfect for me, the engine and all the features make this bike the perfect companion for a newbie. The smooth response of the engine in all the rpm range and the slipper clutch especially. The chassis replies greatly every movement of the body. It’s light, it’s short and with enough power to have fun with it. I needed just two days to be comfortable with it and now I want just to grind miles. Your review is great and honest, really appreciated from an other owner. I wanted just to add some feedback for new riders looking for their first bike. Greetings from NJ

I really like this bike. Many bikes aren't quite comfortable out of the box especially if you are 6 feet tall (or above). This one is and what is even better, stock mirrors aren't useless like on many other bikes when you can mostly watch your arms and right after buying bliss you are desprete to buy aftermarket ones. I only haven't buy this bike in heartbeat because in my country base tracer 9 (non-GT) is only 2,5k USD more expensive and gives you more powerful engine, cruise control, cornering abs, central stand, better optional quickshifter and the first gear in yama makes commuting more pleasant . It's a hard choice because look-wise triumph is more appealing (at least to me) Still If I am able to buy 2023 triumph with some decent deal (maybe cutting another 1k and spending on side cases 😃) I think I can live without those things.

Nice review, why I don't have a 660. Cruse control. You 100% right Triumph is a top of the hill company, but they need to put cruse on all of the bikes. $9,000+ for a bike is not cheep, Triumph please get with it!

I had mine for 6 months and covered about 11,000 km, what's that, about 6500 miles. The downsides were too big for me and I upgraded to the Tiger 900 GT Pro. First gear on the 660 is useless and begs you to buy the quickshifter to be able to use it at all. Vibrations at touring speed were very noticeable and cruise control (as I have on the 900) would make all the difference. The seat isn't comfortable but your butt will vary, fuel consumption was basically the same as for my 900 (4.2l/100km as opposed to 4.5l/100km), it's quite heavy at 220kg or so especially when compared to the 900 which is basically the same weight. The screen was utterly useless for me - again, that's a personal thing - so I bought the very low sports screen and put up with the full wind blast rather than the buffetting at both low and high settings on the stock screen. The engine is a peach but here in Australia we get a detuned version for learner riders so while the map does compensate for this a bit by putting all of the useable torque/power in the right place it's still not the full beans. It's a lovely bike but I like to tour so all of the goodies on the 900 were worth the upgrade.

I've done just under 4k miles since new 2 months ago, and I'm looking at trading mine for the 900 GT Pro as well. I think the 660 engine is a great match for the bike (US version, not neutered), and it's an ideal bike for around town, but touring not so much. Not terrible, but could be better. Too much vibration at 75/80 MPH cruising speed My Street Triple 765 is far less vibey at 100 than this TS660 at 80. Striple also feels more stable/planted than the 660 at high speed. I'm hoping the Tiger 900 will be more appropriate for touring without sacrificing the around town ease/playfulness of the 660.
@lowend5566

@fatheroblivionvids my 900 GT Pro is a joy for touring. Here in Australia we can only legally ride at a max of 65mph in most areas but I'm sure you'll be more comfortable on the GT.

The 900 is also $5k more than the 660 Trust me, we would all probably rather have the 8 or 900 but money is usually the deciding factor

I've had mine for 6 months as well, but only have 500 miles on it so far, still I find it incredibly easy to ride with the exception of first gear being practically useless as you noted and the windscreen being too short for me personally. I also find the heat hitting my ankles, lower legs to be annoying. More people with 900s seem to be mentioning heat as problem than TS660 owners, but it's definitely an issue.

I am seriously considering this bike to replace my Suzuki Bandit 650 sa, I am in Denmark so I do not believe the heat will be a major problem, hottest summer days is around 80F and most of the year it is belove 70F and with most of my previous bikes, I like to gear them up a tooth in the front, make it run with less rpm and give me a better fuel economy and make the spedo show a more acurate number, with out any notable power lose when acceleration, so I guess that would help the useless/short first gear a bit.

Love the idea of adding dual sport tires. In the cold/rain the fairings give protection too. Combined with the windshield, heat aside, that has to be a plus for the overall comfort. But, def good choice with your bike and nice video!

Ridden three of these Tiger Sport 660 models and took delivery of a new one recently. I agree first gear is too low. Apart from that it does all I need here in the UK. It's great fun and confidence inspiring. Blade Triunph dealership at Stratford upon Avon did me a deal and they have several low mileage ones in stock.

I've watched about 50 reviews and this is the first I've heard about the heat, but I think every reviewer was in England, so they probably like the heat there! Are the vibrations a deal breaker? My hands go numb pretty easy. Great review of the bike that you actually own.

How did it feel at highway speeds, let's say 80 to 85mph! I'm thinking about purchasing this one, but I do a lot of touring with my brother and friends. My last 3 trips have been in a GS1250, but they are heavy but at highway speeds they are awesome! thank you and awesome video.
@VectorBurnOfficial
@VectorBurnOfficial Жыл бұрын
It's probably not as great as the GS to be honest at highway speeds. You'll get buffeting on your helmet regardless of where the shield is... HOWEVER, having said that, as I mentioned in the video, I did a 9 day, 4k mile trip on it which included plenty of highways and despite all the heavy luggage the triple performed great. Easy roll on the throttle and go at any speed. Easy to get around other vehicles. You will get some buzziness due to it being a triple, and mirrors get a little fuzzy. But it's tons of fun and I couldn't wait to get back on it each day. In short it doesn't really compare to the big GS, but within it's class, it's pretty great.

Great vid. I got mine used a couple weeks ago for the same reasons. My last bike ( 15 yrs ago ) was a 2001 Speed Triple before that a 98 Daytona. I thought I would be dissappointed in the power of the T660 but it rips and sounds awesome. I agree with everything you covered. Mine came with saddle bags, top box, grip puppies (helps with bar vibes and comfort ), usb port and Yoshi AT2 full exhaust which I believe adds to the heat. I am in Florida and this bike ROASTS my legs. Also cant find a comfortable seating position. Saw the pad on yours. Does it help?
@VectorBurnOfficial
@VectorBurnOfficial Жыл бұрын
Congrats on the bike! That pad only helps with airflow and butt pain on longer rides. It probably won't help you getting comfortable in any other way. But since you're in Florida, for the airflow alone, I would recommend it. It's refreshing.

At high speeds rear view mirrors do buzz / vibrate. The hack is to roll off the throttle, pull in the clutch & it becomes steady 😊
@efara
@efara Ай бұрын
Be careful with that. Riding at high speed with the clutch in doesn't sound safe. If you're in a straight line and do it quickly before switching lanes, it should be okay.

Hey, I purchased a Tiger sport 660 2 months ago. After the first service the fuel consumption is too low. The full tank range dropped to 200km for some reason (tried three times). Even the service centre experts from Triumph do not have a solution. Any suggestion?

Question on the engine heat. Does it feels like it will burn your leg? I'm interested in this bike, but the engine heat and maybe the reliability are the questions for me.
@VectorBurnOfficial
@VectorBurnOfficial Жыл бұрын
Reliability-wise, I haven't had issues... 5000 + miles in half a year. It's a peach so far. The engine heat... I was in the desert, Arizona, New Mexico for several days. You definitely NOTICE the heat, but only when you're moving slow in traffic... and if you're wearing proper gear or even jeans you'll be fine. As long as you don't TOUCH the engine :)

@@VectorBurnOfficialI got a v strom 650 and the heat under the saddle at higher temp. is quite annoying. My interest was to go now for a Triump 660 Sport. Now i hear this bike is also quite hot. Do you know if the naked 660 is similar that hot in certain circumstances? Its because of the heat and small and hard saddle V Strom that i am looking for another bike which suits my bum and jewels better 😅

@VectorBurnOfficial
@VectorBurnOfficial 10 ай бұрын
Thanks for watching. It depends on your experience as a new rider. How confident you are. What you learned on. If you're not careful, the 660 is pretty fast. But it's also fairly light. It is a bit tall though, so if you're shorter than 5' 8" you'll be on your toes and not flatfooting it. Consider all of that and if you can, go sit on it at the dealer to get a good idea of the comfort. You can always ride in RAIN mode, which slows throttle response until you get the hang of it. Otherwise, it's great for both commuting and touring. I did 4000 miles in 9 days on it. It's very comfortable and fun to ride. I just strongly recommend you don't buy it blind, go sit or even test ride it if you can.
