My observation..... This is one of the best most complete and well done Triumph TR 6 DIY videos I've seen. Actual help without lots of fluff. Awesome job. Thanks Good one-on-one style. Like being there.

I have found your TR6 videos very, very helpful. I just finished installing the headlight relay kit using your video as the guide. I am about to put in the steering column bushings using this video. Thanks again.

very kind - the headlight kit - i've never seen such bad directions from a supplier before in my life. I like to follow directions so it was frustrating so I started to document. The steering column bushing and new donut made a big improvement - I was surprised. Its made the mush rubber rack mounts much more noticeable. I need to switch to Goodparts solid aluminum mounts and be done with it.

Nicely done! I've replaced the OEM style bushings that are deeper inside the stéering column on various TRs, but never on a model with the locking column. On models without that, it's not difficult, although the entire column needs to come out. I can see where these Delrin bushings are easier and should work well. They might even work well in combination with a fresh set of the OEM type, giving the column four points of support, rather than just two.. One small observation... The "stuff" around the aluminum cap at the base of the outer column, right at the firewall, might have been some sort of seam sealer or putty originally used to seal up any small gap and prevent engine compartment fumes from seeping into the passenger compartment.

Big improvement for sure. Locking column does limit things for sure. My next project will be solid rack mounts. The rubber ones are just too mushy no matter how much I try. The Stuff for sure was white tape barely holding on. Didn’t see any use to replace that for sure. But someone doing a factory restoration might appreciate that.

Hi! Thanks for this great video! Did your steering wheel shake before you did this? Mine vibrates up and down when coming back to center after turning. Thanks in advance!

I had no shake as I recall. Just a sluggish feel and a thumping sound when I moved the steering wheel up and down. It’s much tighter and responsive now. But I also rebuilt steering rack and other things. The bushing did help a lot though and steering got smoother.

Very helpful video. How many hours of effort to do this job?

good question. Problem is I start and stop so often I don't even keep track. Sometimes I have to order parts and wait. Also, I do clean and paint and other tasks at the same time while i'm in there. Realistically this job just installing the new bushings is like an hour or two at the most. I just rebuilt the steering rack and between that and the bushing and coupler replacement here the car feels like new.

I got the parts ordered from Arthur today, so I’ll likely watch through this a couple more times before I start. Again, really good, thorough and interesting video!

It’s at 15 seconds of video. A picture of art lipp phone and email. It’s not a formal online business. I just emailed him and mailed a check as I recall. He also sells aluminum radiators and fans.
