The fact that Honda and Triumph are kind to KZbinrs makes me inclined to support those brands. Letting their products get some real reviews from locations all over the world instead of simply paid vacations with marketing videos really helps us understand them and reinforces confidence in their products. And what better testament than reviewers buying the demo units right from them? 😎

@@stephenhendry447 That would require lots of research, shopping around and actually buying used bikes so they can be fully reviewed then selling them again. It sounds like it would be appealing to many people but not what this channel is about, Andy spends quite a lot of time already on the videos he produces and often has a few videos in 'the can' waiting to be released I'm not sure he would find much time for those kind of videos.

Bought the CB650R as my first big bike about 6 months ago. Had the Trident been out at the time it definitely would've been a contender at a lower price and with a couple extra gadgets. But I fell in love with the inline 4 engine on the honda and continue to do so every time I wind it up - it's dangerously addicting! For a stock exhaust it looks and sounds amazing but I agree with you especially on the seat. Can't wait to get off it after about 1 hour of riding. You really can't go wrong with any of these bikes though if you ask me!

The trident seems lovely. But ide still pick the cb650r any day. Beautiful bike, love the I4 soundtrack and the high reving screaming power. Also surprisingly comfortable for my 6’5 frame. I did however get a bagster comfort seat. The stock seat was not good for long rides

I think CBR650R (Faired version of CB650) can beat all the three bikes presented here in terms of all-rounder performance. As lucrative and performance-oriented as the truimphs sound, The bike is pathetic in reliability and super-expensive to maintain. Oil leaks from the engine, crank issues, gearbox issues, frequent valve failures, and electrical issues make it more stressful to maintain a truimph. Honda on the other hand simply a bulletproof in quality lasting as much as one wants to keep it. With regards to fuel economy, the hondas make close to 26 km/Litre (About 100 kms/ US gallon), while the other two not even returns half the honda does. The most practical and maintenance-free bike is Honda for sure. Truimph is for someone who has been born with a Silver spoon and doesn't care about the spending.

I think I have watched this video 4 times by now; it is such great content! I must say that I am still a bit unsure about which one is my favourite between a trident and a maybe a bit older street triple. But I guess this a quite enjoyable “problem” to have 😅

I’ve been thinking about a second bike, and I know I want a Triumph. When I think about the price of the new Speed Triple 1200 RS, I cringe. It’s a right proper bike, but I would seldom use it to the full potential. So I’ve been thinking about the Street Triple. I’d prefer second hand too, and this morning you post this. It’s like you read my bloody mind. Thanks and awesome video. Cheers.

I reckon you'll be happy with either the street or the speed triple as I'm sure they are both awesome. However I don't quite understand why people say they didn't buy the bigger bike because they can't use it to its full potential. While I fully agree you can't, or at least shouldn't, use a litre plus bike to it's full potential. But you can't really use a mid capacity bike to it's full potential either, a street triple will still have you eating cold porridge every morning if you get caught. I would actually make the case that a larger capacity bike makes more sense on the road because their bike powerful engines effortlessly munch mile after mile. They are just as happy plodding around using their grunt as they are roaring to the redline. Where as most middleweights don't actually have that much grunt low down and usually need revved out to get a hussle on, which lends itself to more aggressive sporty riding. Just my 2c on the matter, happy riding whatever you chose 🙂

Buy a second hand one. The R is arguably the better bike on UK roads. You'll 'only' have 140bhp which is enough no matter what anybody thinks. Numbers these days are all about willy waving. I'll lay good money there's nobody here that can ride the wheels off the old bike, myself included. There's a secondhand R on Ebay with around 4000 miles for £8200 - bargain.

This was it in extremely helpful and comprehensive review, especially because I’m considering the Honda and Triumph Street triple. Just like the other comments, I think Yamaha and Kawasaki need to read these comments and learn from their mistakes and start allowing the free marketing that KZbin gives. By the way, I think you do great reviews.

I have to say that I loved the gushing over the Street Triple. It is such a magnificent bike and I am very pleased that it stands up to the new crop. I too have been looking at the new machines for a potential replacement for mine as I feel like some ABS and TC would be nice to haves. But, based on what I have seen and ridden, I just cannot find anything that gives me the same giddiness that the older Street Triple does. That being said, one plus point for the Honda - that noise! It has a wicked whine as you are accelerating and the howl of a 4 is always attractive. Reminds me of the 600 Bandit I rode for my DAS. Phew what a monster that was over 6000RPM. Fantastic video. Never sell that Triple mate. It's bloody awesome and looks the nuts! Black & gold tarts all the way.

Nice little comparison Andy. It's easy to get carried away with all the latest and greatest shiny new bikes but the truth is there are some cracking good used machines out there. One of the great unsung middleweights [besides the Street Triple] is Ducati's 848 Streetfighter. It's a lovely looking bike with 132 hp on tap [more than any of the current crop of naked mids]. It handles beautifully [it has the superbike chassis] and has traction control. I don't know if you have ever ridden one but I would highly recommend a go on one. Michael Neaves [of MCN fame] still really rates them today [he had one on long term loan a few years back]. Great vid mate, keep them coming.

Went out this weekend and saw the new Trident, gorgeous! What stuck out to me was how compact it was. It seems even smaller than others in the class, but maybe it was just me not having another naked side by side. Either way, we have come to a point in motorcycles where you can be in a room surrounded by them, close your eyes, spin and point and land on a great bike. Thanks for the review!

I owned a Honda CB650F (a previous incarnation) when they were first released here in Spain. It sounded great, loved the tucked away exhaust, liked the overall look initially but I found the transmission always sounded 'harsh' .... I swopped it for a 2014 very low mileage Street Triple 675R in 2016....I still have it, My bike has ABS and is everything you ever say ( extolling lyrical) about the Bike. Still one of the best bikes of its type on the market.

I have been pining for a bike and have been looking at new. I honestly have to say that I think you've gotten me to consider the older ST again. If I'm going to get a starter bike at a lesser price, I feel the ST is going to offer more in the long run , and then be a nice stepping stone to the newer ST, while being at a price that I will be more than happy to keep it in the stable as opposed to selling it to get something else.

Consider insurance costs too. I've been riding for 23 years and have lots of training and anything newer than 2017 was ridiculous for insurance, even though it would be owned outright. Ins on a lightly used top of the line at the time bike was 1/3 or less the cost per month.

Me and my 4 year old son love watching your videos, really useful and great entertainment! Very fortunate timing as I’m looking at buying one of these three in the next couple of weeks. Which would you buy if you were a beginner I.e. first big bike? Is the Street Triple (a model with ABS) too much for a first bike or would it be ok if ridden sensibly and would last longer - would not get bored of it within 6 months to a year. Thank you.
@TheMissendenFlyer
@TheMissendenFlyer 3 жыл бұрын
Personally I think the Street Triple is too much for a first bike - I think the Trident is ideal in that role (or better still by a second hand SV650 or similar, learn to ride it for 6 months then buy the Street Triple)....

@@TheMissendenFlyer Brilliant thank you! I’ll take a look at the SV650 and a 2019 CB650R. I’m 6ft 4 so it possibly limits the options anyway, might have to look at adventure bikes, anyway I digress - great video, thank you 😁

Spot on review again. I completely agree too! Did have the XSR700 for a couple of years, but looking around for something similar.
