Id say Triumph has gone after Honda and the CBR650R. I think with the CBR only just being revamped by Honda with a decent screen and the option of the new E-Clutch etc, i think it might be too little too late for Triumph.l in this sector. Especially as Honda build quality and reliability is also its selling point. That said, Triumph build quality is also pretty decent and the triple motor is probably going to be a bit more exciting than the inline 4 in the Honda. The R7 is not really any competition. Its bit dated now and underpowered. I think a lot of people will be holding out for the R9 when it comes out next year. Although likely coming in a couple grand more than this.

I wish Triumph's would float my boat, but they just don't appeal to me. Back in 2009 I was looking to get an adventure bike and tried the Tiger 800, just had no 'go', had to really rev it to get anywhere. Then tried the Tiger1200 when that came out but far too top heavy (for me). A friend of mine has a Street Triple 675 and he absolutely loves it. 🤷‍♂ Luckily we have lots of options. 🎉

How does it compare to the Suzuki GSX 8R is the question?

I am glad it’s not my choice . I think the triumph will be more exciting up top of rev range and the Suzuki will have that low down grunt . You would have to ride them back to back if you could . Cop out from me on that question . I would be happy with either 🙈

I had the same question, Test rode the GSX8R and the Daytona 660 back to back, and the Daytona was much smoother in every aspect, so I bought the Daytona. Credit where credit it due, the Suzuki had a bit more torque, and is a bit more upright.
