You don’t need fret wraps with Floyd Rose locking tuners right? Or do you?
@prototype9904
@prototype9904 3 жыл бұрын
yes and no ~ they serve two functions, the floyd eliminates one of them
@Nicksperiments
@Nicksperiments 3 жыл бұрын
Yes. The fret wrap mainly stops the open strings from ringing when doing solos which will happen no matter what kind of tuners or bridge you have. You still need to dampen the little bits of sting at the top of the headstock and the springs on a Floyd rose but a fret wrap doesn’t do either of those. You could use one for the top of the headstock but it’s mainly for open string ringing, not mechanical noise

@@mattsolegod haha. Bullshit. It helps getting rid of overtones that happen behind the nut. Regardless of how perfect your technique is. There will be vibrations behind the nut that you cant stop with technique. Thats why those things are important. Especially for high gain players.

@BezuMusician

@@metalpuppet5798 Thanks a lot for the reply. Clears my doubts on that aspect. I only do home recordings so I guess this would be a good thing for me to get cleaner recordings and avoid extra notes/ overtones. Any suggestions on how to get rid of the pick noise, basically the "chak chak" sound that comes while recording into Logic Pro X directly through my Antelope Zen Go audio interface using the Line 6 Helix Native plug in? I find that on the higher frets, there's always some pick noise on high gain patches. Somehow I haven't figured out how to get rid of those pick sounds though sometimes they get covered in the mix. Is it a technique issue?

Thanks Robbie, it's part of Matt's branding initiative and his fans dig them! The product you're describing is already out -- Check www.gruvgear.com/fretwedge which complements FretWraps so you won't even need to slide it over the locking nut. Also most players using FretWraps on locking nuts just place it right over it, and rock it forward to engage, backward to disengage. Hope this helps!
