Also James Hetfield keeps his vox local, and has more tone and power in them. Matt Heafy's vocals go all over the place, and is much more trebly than Hetfields are in the tone. They developed similar styles maybe for singing with resonance in their vox, but that's prolly just coincidence.

Slayer stole a Metallica riff, Metallica stole a Black Sabbath riff, I've heard a Black Metal band steal an Ozzy riff, and I've come up with riffs myself only to hear them by another band later. There are only so many notes on the guitar, and only so many ways to play them.
