This just brought me to tears. I’ve always been fat and in high school people used to throw food at me. I used to came home crying and mom told me to grow up. I had to go through my pain alone, and it left me with serious trust issues. Parents cannot control the environment that kids are eventually thrown into at school and society, but having your kids back really helps us feel safe, even when everything else in life sucks

Really sorry that this happened to you. Honestly if it happened to me I'd probably put up a front and then cry later in secret, but if I saw someone doing this to someone else, it'd be on sight. Some peopke can't be argued with, school can be a damn jungle and kids are animals, if you look like prey they eat you alive. I hate this about schools.

I am so sorry you had to suffer such behavior. & then have your own mother treat you that way. My son is also overweight. Although he never endured any direct/regular bullying, I know comments & "jokes" got to him. I've always been there for him, being supportive, loving & protective. I'm so sorry you were not given the same. Just know some random stranger from Ohio has got your back. I care about what happens to you, wish you all the best & hope things get better for you. I absolutely control the environment my kids are in... I'm so sorry that you experienced a life that adults were not in your corner. My babies are tiny and my 9 year old looks 6. I moved to a different state and put her in a school that has small class sizes and she is thriving. I'm sending a hug to your inner child and you and pray you see that there are gentle and kind people in the world that see your pain even in a comment. I'm right there with you, Laura. I wasn't fat as a kid but I was bullied for being gay and my parents handled the bullying pretty much the same way yours did, except they bullied me for being gay too. This short was oddly healing but made me wish I'd had parents like Trixie and Katya growing up. Not for the bloodshed, haha, but so I would've had supportive parents who cared that I was being bullied. You're a warrior for having survived everything you did, I hope you know that. And this random gay guy on the internet is sending hugs of solidarity, if you want them, and wishing all the best things in the world for you because you deserve them.

Never encouraged to partake in after school clubs or sports as they cost money. Fatshamed alllll the way into an eating disorder that I’m still battling 15 years later! Children below the age of 10 should really not be encouraged to focus on their appearance every waking moment. Thanks for providing us space to rant about our collectively shitty parents! The KID wouldn’t stand a chance. Parents need to help their kids avoid becoming unhealthy, not defend their bad habits. If it’s due to an illness, then that’s a different story but telling your kid it’s okay to be fat while they’re still a kid is only going to get worse in the future.

@@chesnay1222 How the f do you think a parent telling their child they're not good as they are would help anything?? A parent can help their child be healthy and active, but telling (or even implying) that they're less worthy as a fat person is not going to make them more healthy, quite the opposite. Taking care of yourself needs actually caring about yourself. If you hate yourself and/or your body, you're not going to do loving things for it.

I love this so much. Criticizing children for their weight only makes it worse. These people in the comments who say “don’t encourage them to be a big model…or encourage them to be healthy” are really just saying to shame them. Whether they realize it or not. And were clearly never a fat kid. Love you Trixie and Katya!

Nah, you can support your kid and give them the love and attention they deserve and need while supporting them to get to a healthier weight while not shaming them or criticising them. Every child deserves parents that won't let them to suffer the life long consequences of being overweight through your childhood and who will protect them from people bully them.

I mean you SHOULD encourage them to be healthy. You can do that without bullying them. There isn't anything wrong with being fat morally, and fat people deserve respect, but being fat has serious consequences on your health and life. It's not like being black, or being gay, or being trans, where you are born that way and all risks associated with it come from society. Nobody is born fat, it's not an identity, and even if everyone treated fat people perfectly, their health would STILL be at risk, because fat is unhealthy Being fat is more like being a smoker than it is to being a minority

One doesn’t have a “fat child”, you make the child become fat from providing poor nutrition…

that is an entire lie. children can be born with diabetes and low metabolisms and all other conditions that can cause obesity. Why sit here and lie on so many children

@@puhpoweee i never once said children cannot be overweight due to poor nutrition diets. But there are many reasons for why a child can be overweight at birth and this person dismissed those children by saying one doesnt have a fat child, a lot of families do have fat kids and its nobodys fault.
