Goku may not have been the best father but after watching this, I do believe he loved his son and did have a relationship with him while he was alive. People give Goku so much flack for not being there but he was. No one taught Goku how to be a father but damn it, he was a good father to Gohan.

You know I'm sick of the fandom constantly claiming Goku is a horrible father when there is just as much of an argument that can be made of him being a great father. Goku is like every other father in existence he is not perfect, but that doesn't define what a good father is. So the way I look at it, Goku is a person that tries his best to raise his kids in his own way in order for them to be good strong men that can not only replace him, but be better than him.

Of course I agree with you. For example moments in ROAST, after Raditz kidnapped Gohan Goku immediatelly flew to save him even knowing that Raditz is stronger, he also was determinated to save Gohan on Namek especially knowing he wasn't all healed . And our hero didn't let Gohan to fight Nappa or Freeza ;). He wasn't a lot with his family but Goku was also Earth hero so if he didn't train Earth and space would be in danger- nobody could replace him- earth fighters was useless. Also after Cell he asked not to be revived because of that enemies came for Goku- Freeza, Sayians, Androids or Cell- he wanted earth to stay safe. Of course I am not negating that GOku loves to fight.

Of all the times goku didn’t have to fight he spent his time with gohan. After dragon ball ended he raised gohan for four years. After he was brought back he saved gohan. And they spent a lot of time talking together while in the hospital. Then after healing when straight to Namek saving gohan again. After the fight with frieza he didn’t go home right away because he was training getting ready for when frieza arrives on earth. Then when he got to earth. Then spent 3 years with gohan. Then chose gohan to train with him in the hyperbolic time chamber. Then died again. He wasn’t the perfect father but he tried his best

I really wish people gave Goku more credit as a father. He was there for the first 4-5 years of Gohan's life, he stayed with him in the Hyperbolic Time Chamber for a while year and trained him, he sacrificed himself to Cell and Raditz so his son could live, as well as everybody else on Earth, he saved him from Nappa, Recoome, and Frieza, not to mention he cheated death BECAUSE Gohan was getting his ass kicked by Bojack, and after he punched him, he was holding his son in his hands telling him to finish off the fight. And he even took him fishing sometimes, and once he took him camping and he was at his birthday. What did Vegeta do? He tortured Trunks so Cell, a fucking VILLAIN, could get stronger, he never hugged Trunks until he was 8, and after that, he slapped Trunks AND Goten to the ground. Not to mention that was the ONLY time he ever hugged his son. He didn't give a shit when Trunks died in a plane crash, he punched Trunks in the face while he was training him, he lied to him about taking him to the amusement park, and he didn't start caring about his son until after he died. He never even spent any time with him outside of training. People need to start giving Goku credit as a dad, but NOOOOO, let's praise fucking Vegeta just because he's "The prince of all saiyans", Yaaaay!
