There are a lot of young wannabe pop stars who will change their musical style and appearance to what’s popular even if it’s disingenuous or insensitive and even lie about where they’re from so there was suspicion towards her intentions. There is definitely a slight change in hers but the more she talked, the more Australian she sounded. A bit like Rosé from Blackpink.

Just talking to my US or UK friends I tend to pick up a slight change, my kids notice and definitely let me know. Iggy doesn't have a really strong Aussie accent that I've noticed other celebs putting on for an international audience.

You are right. Australians do lose their accent in a certain way very quickly. But there is always the Aussie twang that you can hear especially on certain words. To be fair I have not watch a lot of Iggy talking of recent, this came up and it looked fun and she is actually pretty cool. I think I might have been against her a bit as she seems to not be overly proud of being Australian. But the fact she has kept her accent where other Australians deliberately adopt and American or English accent to assimilate better or so other can understand their accent... Five Seconds of Summer said this as Americans can’t understand them apparently. Personally as a proud Aussie I would hate to lose my accent to get more famous. With international acts now Iike BTS the entertainment scene is international so why lose your identity. On top of all of this it is easy for Australians to lose their accent in countries like the US as we live on US TV is easy to happen.

@@fatimasummaray9057 Nicki had her first big song in 2010. Almost 5 years before Iggy had her first hit Fancy and none of her songs reached that level of popularity. She had a decent career but was pretty much a one hit wonder. And I think she got a lot of hate because she is a white person rapping and rap fans tend to want to put female rappers against each other and she was never going to compare to Nicki.

I dont really remember Eminem getting a massive amount of hate for being a white rapper and he's extremely popular. Personally, I like Iggy and more so now that I've discovered she has a great personality and is hilarious. She seems like a fun person. Also I love Fancy and Black Widow. To be fair, Nikki is arguably better than MOST young female rappers out today.
