@richbrass123 жыл бұрын
No. Wrong configuration helps no one. The whole point of education is so you can be able to take the information and move forward with it. If you're teaching youngsters the wrong way , they have to relearn when they get older and another program. Normal tenor drum setup is made for the range of motion for the average human body. That set up not too much.

Not gonna lie, those would be kinda dope on a drum set. Just a like a big ridiculous line of high toms 70s style
@MatthewClise3 жыл бұрын
That was my first thought. Cannibalize then and turn them into concert toms. Like, what's the cheapest one can out together a Neil Peart drumset for?
@Issabamabeat2 жыл бұрын
I remember going into the 8th grade and we had to build our entire drumline setup apart from 4 snares that were already assembled. We had a new band director who wanted us to march to get experience for next year. We had Premier drums and it was so fun learning how they all worked.
@dylanjc3 жыл бұрын
In my experience with Trixon drums, they de-tune really fast. My theory's that the wood they use fluctuates with hot temperatures more than other brands, so the heads don't stay tight. Or maybe something's up with the lugs. They make ok practice drums, but maintaining a line of them would be exhausting.
@BrunodeSouzaLino3 жыл бұрын
These are not timpani, so temperature and humidity are of little concerned, as tenor drums are not pitched instruments. One solution would be getting some left handed knurled nuts on the same thread size as the lug bolts and put them in the lug bolts. And you have your own tuner locks for a fraction of the price.
@jackargie10923 жыл бұрын
I think if you tune a line of them w stock heads they will be fine until you can get new heads. They don’t even sound half bad.

I was actually surprised at trixons performance. I am interested to know how they would hold up over time especially in like a middle school or elementary school line. I haven't known middle or elementary school drummers to be easy on equipment. My old middle school used and still uses Yamahas that are ball park 20+ years old. At times, do to changes out of the director's control, those drums haven't always had the best storage conditions and maintenance records. Surprisingly, the drums still look and sound pretty good.
@jtwernbold3 жыл бұрын
This was my question as well. Public schools will often use drums for literally decades; at my last school, my students were using 10-year-old Yamahas, but we also had a set of 25-year-old Pearls which were used for pep band. I suspect the Trixon drums would not last for decades.

I remember years ago at PASIC a company was displaying their "quads." They were a bit put out that everyone (that I observed, at least) shook their head at their wonky carrier and drum geometry. (I cannot find who the company was - they were rim and head only-ish drums with a single point tuning system for each head that squeezed the head via a horizontally hinged rim.)

I think the next test for the trixon tenors would be to keep them tuned up and play daily for a while to see what happens to the shells and the casings. Can they hold up or will they collapse. And for those of you who are younger, I was around when all the drum companies had to make changes. We would see casings shear off in the middle of practice or pull the screws through the shells and let’s not forget the exploding tension rods that would snap and go flying up and hit the ceiling. That’s why they had to go to 6mm tension rods. Just my thoughts
@kevinwilley9683 жыл бұрын
That is my question as well, i have a Middle School line with smaller kids. The System Blue drums are pretty light but expensive. We aren't a competitive band so those tenors sound is great.
