I like how the marching activity started out with marching timpani and really large marching Tom's then eventually progressed to more reasonably sized drums now we've kinda gone backwards with the benor drums

To be fair, at one point they weren’t allowed to roll anything on the field, but those items like timpani and mallets only had to be carried on and off the field and were played stationary for most of the show.

Bro you gotta keep the bottom heads to get that bass drum sound come on, I gotta hear it with both heads. I have always wanted to do this. I set them up with chairs once in hs but the harness is next level. We had stingray fiberglass drums, that would probably be a whole other level of heavy 😂

We played tri toms in middle school marching. One day, the head on drum 3 broke and I would play on pads for every practice. When the halftime performance came around for our towns high school game, I had to play tenors. Now as you can imagine, a little 13 year old holding 6 drums looked exactly like how he looked when he first put on the benors. 😂

To save on endurance, it might be cool to implement flip out legs for stationary features, or perhaps legs that are always out, but adjustable to wear they only hold it up when lower than a certain point, like a squatting a bit

I worked for a school in Southern Indiana that had a rig similar to this, except that it was only quads, with no drum in the position of the spock drum, and it could not be carried. I worked there starting in 2010 and they already had it, not sure how old it was. It would be placed in the pit and used y one person to cover bass drum parts.

Michael Daugherty once marched the most ridiculous looking single bass drum, which they had horizontal like these, in a corps called the Grenadiers. Very oddly he went on to become a Grammy award winning composer. One, back hurting bass drum, all summer.
