Fun fact, if you send any Rockruff capable of evolving into Dusk Lycanroc into Pokemon Home, those Rockruff have the ability Own Tempo, which it needs to evolve into Dusk in the main games. Suggests that they need to be coded differently to regular rockruff

The smallest possible excellent for the critical capture doesn't work on raid legendaries or galarain birds! But works on everything non-legendary. No one has texted mythicals yet, but it's probably still a guarantee catch on the third throw

This is the first video I've watched covering this event, and I can't believe how stupid-lucky I got... No egg-hatching, no Rockruff raids, just one "Win 2 Raids" task completed, and I got the shiny dusk-form Rockruff!

Found out today, if you do not already have a Dusk Form Rockruff, it will appear as a Silhouette on your Raid Nearby on PokeGo!!!! This will save you rushing to every raid, unless you want to visit Campfire. And it will "only" evolve into Dusk Form, not the other two types

FYI Nick, if you do a raid or a task or hatch a Rockruff without the Dusk form, the silhouette disappears and thus any silhouette for raids for Rockruff are then 100% guaranteed to be Dusk Form. So don't waste passes! You know before the raid what the form is without Campfire. Once you get a Dusk form tho, you have to rely on an alt account (I used my alt to catch Dusk Form so that any non-silhouette is guaranteed to be Dusk Form). Niantic will eventually patch the Rockruff icon not working on Campfire but this method can't really be patched.

@@becshaps Was it your first Rockruff since the update? If so, they reset the Rockruff silhouette for regular Rockruff since they altered the coding backend for it. Once you do one of it tho, any other silhouette Rockruff's will be new form until you catch it. Verified this myself using my alt account.

Happy New Year Nick! It's unfortunate that this method for guaranteed critical catches isn't very practical, as you have to be so precise with the size of the circle, but it's still a nice feature to have. I'm really looking forward to more Japan videos here on your channel, and now at least two trips are confirmed. Awesome! Someone on Silph is gathering info about critical catches. Apparently like 3% of the time if you hit the exact spot for critical catch, the circle doesn’t matter. Could be nice throw, could be no circle, you can still get a critical.

Happy New Year! I completed the Hatch 3 eggs task, and did get the Rockruff which can Evolve into it's Dusk Form Rockruff. I think these are the best/quickest way to be able to obtain one. Haven't got the raid task yet so can't judge on that one, but I do think those are guaranteed Dusk form Rockruff. Good tip about the campfire map as of now. I'll share it with my friends. Got an egg hatch as well, and was like YES, turned out it was the older Rockruff, rip. 😆

The tiny excellent throw Critical Catch thing does work on raids (I tested on a one-star raid). It just doesn’t work on Legendaries (either from raids or DAI or others).

The critical catch on the small excellent throws is a game changer for me. Opened my game and tried it immediately and it definitely works. Got it for three different species in a row. Update: tried it on a Rockruff from a raid and it worked as well

The excellent critical catch works on raids of any type except Legendary ones. Raid and GBL Legendary don't get the critical catch. Galariand birds used to be able to get critical catches for the first few hours, but it seems they patched it quickly so it doesn't work anymore.

The generic icon on campfire is no guarantee. I just used my last remote pass because I saw one, and when I caught it, it was regular day/night rockruff.

One of the main reasons that I gave up on PoGO 2 years ago was the inconsistency of game. Each new update brought up new issues, and some already fixed issues continued to reappear randomly. Niantic put more and more contents into the game but they didn't come up with any long-term solution that might guarantee stability. It was just frustrating and infuriating.

Didn’t manage to even get a 3 star or a shundo but I got something better I was evolving shiny rowlet(cause I got 12,so 4 of each evo) First I got an XXL shiny one and at the last minute of com day I caught a shiny rowlet didn’t check IV and evolved it to decidueye then randomly checked the IVs on it and it was a Nundo, 0 Percent IV Pokémon and it was a freaking shiny

One of the top 5 stupidest things Niantic has done. I've got a Lucky Rockruff I've been saving for this form evolution, and my friend has a hundo, but they can't evolve. Ridiculous. I'm not even interested in this "event". :( Hope you keep up on that research, lol.

Critical catch can happen randomly on any throw, so sometimes you just get lucky.
