Great video, try reversing your rod placement in the rod holders to board.farthest away from boat goes towards bow in rod rack that way you do not need to go under every other rod in holder.

Great video. Finally one that took the time and explained how to run them! Outside board inside rod. I was doing it backwards! Was running a different type of board also. Finally invested in the offshore boards and flags. Looking forward to getting out!

Great close up video on the planer boards. Most videos do not show you close up. They just say it’s super easy and do it really fast with a far shot so you can’t really see and it gets really intimidating.

Nice video. Awesome job handling 4 boards by yourself. Speaking from experience, I know what a challenge it can be some days just handling 2 boards by myself.

Another great video! If I remember correctly Tommy is an Iowa boy from the Dubuque area? I think he used to fish the W.A.T. walleye trail. You're a ways south of us, but in the last 2-3 weeks we have been hammering nice crappie around the wave-breaker docks in 19-22 ft, water temp around 67, on live minnows and just a gold aberdeeen hook. That bite might happen in your area soon !

Mike, my wife and I have been running the offshore mini boards for a couple years with great success. I think you may be creating more work for your self with your board placement. We run our deepest running bandits on the outside board with the rod in the furthest forward rod holder. Your inside board should have the shallower running bandit with the rod in the further aft (rear) rod holder. That eliminates the crossing under of rods. Advanced boat handling with fish on the outside board, turn your boat the opposite direction of the outside board that has the fish. example, fish is caught on the right outside board do a slight left turn, this will bring the outside board straight behind the inside board then start reeling. have your rod tip to the opposite side of the boat from the fish this will clear the inside board then straighten out your boat and land the fish. Always keep your deepest lure on the out side. I would check with Tommy again since he is a big walleye guy I'm sure he will tell you the same thing Buckeye Mike

I can't thank you enough Mike for your videos and teaching. I really appreciate the insight. This particular video is an insight into reality in that sometimes "the fish just don't bite". I'm interested in your trolling motor setup. Can you let me know what type of trolling motor you have and how easy it is to control such that you can manage your speed, direction without having to focus on that constantly rather than the actual fishing part. Thanks. Tom

None. I don’t guide and I would not be on that lake that time of year. Too many pleasure boaters for me. They have taken over.

How do your flat lines not get tangled up when reeling in your planer board lines
@MikeBakerVideos
@MikeBakerVideos 11 ай бұрын
The planner boards are to the outside of the flat lines. Just reel them in and keep them to the outside of the boat.

How many rods can you have out per person?? I have used Offshore boards for at least 25-30 years and will continue for as long as I fish, lots of fun at times. We are allowed 2 rods per person so I fish 1 board and 1 leadcore rods. Great video and keep up the good fishing!! Oh and I use the oKuma reels, and they are ok, a little cheaper than the Diawas.

No limit on number of rods as long as all rods over 3 are labeled with name and address or conservation number. There is a hook limit which I think is 33.

Great idea for a really rural area. I would get murdered where I live by other fishermen/boaters if I tried having something 20 feet off each side of my boat. If I COULD do it, that is a genius way to troll.

It is very effective and you can precisely control your bait depth by the amount of line you run between the bait and the board.

It is a different style of fishing for sure. I resisted it for a long time but the more I do it the more I like it. Watching a fish yank that board back will get your heart pumping as well. It will definitely put more fish in the boat under certain conditions.
