You could and still can spam the doors but when you did so BEFORE the update it became locked shut. So after the fix instead of locking the door it becomes open for minutes. But that introduces problems like we see in this video. You can't get past the door if you have no way to go around it. That is how I interpreted it.

Pretty sure they were just programmed to open the door if kemp tried closing it, and ultimately jamming it. Kemp never tried closing the door though so it wasn’t jammed yet and just normal closing/opening until Kemp arrived which it might have gotten it jammed then

He's incorrect about it jamming for minutes, the door jams for around 20 seconds, the trade menu was open for part of this duration as the scammer is trying to wait out a portion of the time the item is on the floor for and the rest is spent split between teleport animation, banking and running.

This is almost exactly how I was so nearly scammed for my tbow. Only difference was a different door. In hindsight I was baffled at how elaborate the lure was. I was seconds from losing the bow. Only reason they didn’t get it was because I stayed calm, hopped worlds, moved back on the tile my items were on, and hopped worlds again. These scammers are no joke.

Not even rightclick will work because the right click item list is too long and prioritizes the cats. So you wont be able to pick anything back up until its too late i know cus i used to do this scam

Hey Kemp, not sure if there’s a reason this wouldn’t work… but couldn’t you just hop worlds, move back to the square you were on when you dropped the item, then hop back and pick it up? I got scammed by something similar to this almost 10 years ago and it made me rack my brain for a while on how I could have avoided it. Not about to try it but hope this helps in a future video! It's even easier to get your items back than what you did. You simply hop worlds and then stand on the tile of your stuff and then hop back to the actual world your item is. A lot of people won't be thinking about that during a panic though

There's a chance they flood the world with enough bots that it becomes full to prevent hopping. Or that they've already stuck the doors on adjacent worlds in anticipation. Don't take the risk and try to outscam a scammer (Unless you're KempQ).

Someone got me with a scam similar to this a loooong time ago. They essentially did the same thing, but when i dropped my expensive weapon(noxious scythe for me back in the rs3 days) they dropped something like a toy mouse or clockwork cat. Tons of them. When i would right click, since there are a few options when you rightclick it, my scythe was too far down on the list and i couldnt pick it up. They however brought tellygrab and it removed most of those options. They tellygrabbed my scythe and it was byebye forever. very cleaver.
