it should be easiyl solved if jagex adds a 5 tick-delay between putting and item and clicking on trade and add a warning pop-up message when trade is unbalanced ( eg: trading an 100k item for 200k)@@ConyeOSRS

Yeah it's actually not hard to mask the swap even by hand. I did a quick swap to troll a friend once when we were collating gear and it took him a solid 20 seconds after the trade completed to realize I still had his bow (I gave it back of course. Friendship>gp). These scammers will use macros tho that make it legit instant. If you aren't carefully watching second screen, you'll never see it change.

Fun fact: the first account that comes up to trade you before the pavlovian scam is checking to see if you have the trade delay on. The scam only works if its turned off so its a way of weeding out people with the delay on that they can't scam using that method.

I found a bunch of loot on the floor one time back in 06. It was obby shield and cape which was worth something back then. Some dude lured me into lumbridge swamp and down into the hole. He took me past the frogs and then used a wind spell on the frog near me which extinguished my candle. I was totally unaware and ended up dying for everything. I have never seen anybody do this trick ever again and not sure if it still works. But would be nice for you to check it out.

Thank you for avenging my dumbass who got lured for a shadow and full ancestral with the first method shown in this video. In addition to that method they also let me get away with successfully counterscamming them for about a month. Man I felt so dumb when they actually got me because the 60m or whatever I got away with was not even close to the 2b I lost. They tried selling me back my items and gold via RWT after :( I quit the game shortly after because I felt like I was limited on content since I sold bowfa for ancestral when I got my shadow

I'm ashamed to admit it, but I lost a twisted bow this way (second method). He repeatedly switched from a figure like 1,500m to 1,500k and I wound up taking him for like 50mil. And then, on the 30th attempt, he switched it from 1,500m to 150m for the first time because I was focused on the unit and lost my tbow. It happens, don't mess around. It felt truly terrible and I wound up quitting for about 4 months because of it.

He struck up convo with me at GE while I was in ancestral/shadow (now I always keep private to friends only). Some of these scumbags really play the long con. I did the quick accept trade with the same exact guy when I was selling my ancestral. He did it once when I was selling d claws and I wasn’t fast enough. I then was selling full ancestral and he put up 400m 15-20m~ over market and I got him. I sell high dollar stuff at GE often. Hope he finds me again :)

The fact that the second scam is possible is just mind-boggling. You should NOT be able to double accept in a single tick. You should NOT be able to swap an item without ever seeing the icon of the new item. When items change, players should be somehow forced to acknowledge it, not just kind of alerted to it with a little red flashing. Sure, you might say just take your time when accepting trades and you'll never get scammed. But we literally have video evidence here of the fact that social engineering is a massive issue in the current system. Kemp played with fire and won because he knows the tricks, this is probably rudimentary to him. But some people might trust Jagex a bit more.

People ask "how do people fall for these scams still?" all the time. The honest answer is that only a few people genuinely fall for lures. Most of the people who lose their stuff are trying to anti-lure. You won't anti-lure them, it's not gonna happen. You will lose your stuff because they have 10 levels of lure deeper than you think. Kemp has been doing this for a while, so he has experience. Tbh, there's even a chance the lurers intentionally lose money to him for videos to make people think that they can do the same anti. They're crafty, and when they lose money, they're already creating a new lure to fix whatever flaw caused the last loss.

Once left a cox raid and some guy asked if I trusted my friend enough to trade him my tbow so I did, within 30s they had an account trading my friend with almost my exact username (for my tbow).. Thank god we were in discord and voice confirm these trades like a bunch of autis. 😂
