I really don't understand alliance server. I understand when a server alliance forms but having to go onto a discord to do it beats the purpose of it. I tried one before and it was just dumb kids screeching their lungs off at anything. Then I recently had a server alliance form while my friend and I were fishing and the 2 other boats just wanted to chill after a day of work and we just happened to get lucky with the other people in the server.

​@@fourscarlet7581 Natural alliances are usually pretty chill, because everyone forms them with a common understanding and - importantly - the people in them are people who were already willing to do the work of their various coexisting PvE playstyles. Discord server alliances and whatnot, conversely, are where kids who don't want to do said work go for easy money, commendations, and so forth. They're not used to losing any of their work in the game, or they don't want to put up with it at all rather than just getting better at defending it. And as per the original comment, the ships sailing in formation (loose as it was) look quite nice. Not particularly efficient unless you're doing a meg/skeleton ship hunt, but it looks nice.

Alliance discords = L Naturally formed alliances with randos = W (sometimes if it's not a FoF) I've had the most fun making friends with random people on the sea of thieves, having a whole server full of people that are all just able to talk to eachother from across the map defeats every point of the game, while naturally formed alliances makes you able to just sail with some random people for a bit until they either betray you, you betray them or either goes off for the night. It's all about meeting the right people and the wrong people, and the mystery behind seeing a ship you don't recognise on the horizon.

Well it does die quicker with more ships (though it helps if said ships actually have a good formation where they can use their cannons, and if the crews are competent enough to do so), undeniably. Main thing is I doubt all those crews could actually converge on one spot before the crew who got the spawn kills it.

it is not inefficient, you habe at best 1 meg per 1h of gameplay on a single ship. if you have 5 ships, congrats, you have 5 megs per hour at best. you also kill them way faster. them taking the meg loot and not letting it sink is lame though, meg hunting is supposed to be done for commendations not treasure

It's cool if it happens naturally imo. Like you went around speaking to other ships in the server to work together for something, like Glitterbeard or whatever. But these guys take over servers, and get on people's ships and ask them to have a player leave, they join their crew, then slowly take over entire servers. That's how they get ahold of all the boats on the server. They're like a disease.

Hey theb, have you considered using OBS Replay Buffer instead of Shadowplay? I made the switch a while ago and it's way better. I just assign hotkeys for turning it on/off and capturing the last however many seconds, and if you're already streaming on OBS then you don't need to run two different programs for it. I output all my recordings to MKV (so it doesn't corrupt if something breaks halfway through recording) and I have the auto remuxer enabled to MP4 so I use that file instead when it's time to edit, and then just delete the MKV after. The best part is you can split the audio tracks apart, so I have one track with just my mic, another with just the game, another with just Discord, and then one all combined together so it's easy for me to watch the files back in a video player and hear the sound properly. I've found overall less annoying problems with recording in OBS compared to Shadowplay so I'd definitely recommend the switch if Shadowplay is causing trouble. Just thought I'd give some advice in case you didn't know about it, and I hope it helps!
