Thanks for sharing, I'm doing it solo in July 24th, hopefully someone will get a picture for me. I'll certainly camp overnight for a the easy approach to making it there and back without rushing.

That sounds good. There are enough people there which will gladly help you with a picture. If this is this the most important item on your Norway journey, I strongly recommend to have some margin in case of bad weather. For my upcoming videos I had to reschedule the hike for a week, until there are was good enough weather. The other had to be moved by one day.

Can you do the hike from P3 with a 8 month baby on a good weather day? We plan to do it in August.
@XploreNorway11 күн бұрын
I wouldn't do that if I had a such a young child even in good weather. While filming the Besseggen video there was a family in front of us, where the child (probably 1.5y) didn't want to be the carrier anymore, and the parents had to carry him/her for the next 14 km. The guide found it was madness. He only took his child to Besseggen when he turned 7. An Besseggen is easier than Trolltunga.

How long did it take you to get up from P2 with heavy backpacks to camp with?
@XploreNorway3 ай бұрын
My friends who filmed it needed 5 hours from P2 to Trolltunga. But they didn't camp, and are well trained.

We are planning for nov 1 week for hike , is there chances of snow fall ?
@XploreNorway3 ай бұрын
There is 99% chance for snow. And there is not enough daylight to do the hike.

beautiful view, there's another way to get from P2 to P3 ... road is boring

If you check ut.no, you will see that there is a path on the otherwise of the stream. But it looks really, really steep. Also there is the path on the otherwise of the lake, but that's way longer and even more difficult.

sucks that its so crowded, would love to hike this on my own without the company of anyone around
@XploreNorway4 ай бұрын
- If you go in low season like mid september, during on weekday you will be pretty alone. - There are other ways to trolltunga, but they are even harder - Do another hike, only 0.01% of all the hikes in Norway as so crowded.

It's not recommended to track alone, you can't count on there being a phone connection, if it's far away from people, and if there is no one else around, you might find yourself in a difficult and even deadly situation.

As far as I know, only one person died near the tongue (was not even on it anymore when she felt down) so far, it is one too many, but you made it sound more dramatic than necessary. Also, the hike is so popular in summer (I did it last week), that doing it alone without a guide was not that bad as you are not quite "alone" anyway.

The goal of the video is that you come prepared and clear of the dangers. When I started planning for that video, the situation was way more chaotic. Only falls which are 100% sure that they are not suicides are mentioned in the media, that way there are so few mentions.

When was this hike ? May 2024 ??
@XploreNorway7 ай бұрын
The video was released in April. It was filmed beginning September 2023. We usually film the things during summer of the year before it is published.

@@Matti6950 That filmed on a Saturday, so you get the locals who go there in addition. This is one of the few video, I delegated the filming to a friend. I need to instruct him better next time.

You really want some hiking fun? Start at parking P2 and climb via the forest to Trolltunga. It only took me two hours to climb four km. So yeah, it's very steep. On the positive side: my hike only lasted 8 hours and was 23 km long.
