Take weather into account check, i'm following it non stop (to learn) and talking with a friend in Hardanger area. Don't plan to much, we planned a lot, but are flexible to cancel stuff, and we put in extra days to have them done. Don't go without a plan: check, i plan virtuous everything in Excel, not to execute it all, but to be able to travel without stress, all adres to go to, stuff to do, alternative, cost (very important), etc is planned. Don't go to short: check, it will be a month (including 3 days to get there and 3 to get back), 18 days in Hardanger (prime area). Preikestolen: with people like you saying not to go i was almost convinced it's a tourist trap. And amount of tourist, yes it's true, but the path is beautifull, the views are amazing, and as a photographer, videographer, it's super sad to miss this out. But i did research very hard to avoid tourist trap. Going earlier then 8 am (say 7 am) seems to be a good thing and we literaly sleep as close as possible (other then preikestolen basecamp). Another one i would say: a lot of area's look similar in norway. Either visit only one of those, or research the ones that actually look better then average. For instance Geiranger fjord is more average then you would think, there is better all in one fjords. Last unless you are the core type of ppl for the cruiseship business: skip them. Swimming in a pool or sitting in a boat can be done elsewhere and cheaper (and with better weahter probably. Want to take selfie stick pictures?, the ships prevent it, theres cables everywhere and the front of the ship is prohibited, forcing only sideway images: they are not good trust me :D Plan to stop along the way, there are mini parkings at waterfalls, roads next to fjords, to see the beauty, missing them cause of rushing is a big mistake, the slow flow of Norway, embrace it and use it, in this manner! Cost: the place we stay at (main one) is 57€ per day :D The safes biggest cost, most others are 100€, but preikestolen 50€ as well, brandasund 100 (while most are 250e). I will soon go there :)

As far as I know, only one person died near the tongue (was not even on it anymore when she felt down) so far, it is one too many, but you made it sound more dramatic than necessary. Also, the hike is so popular in summer (I did it last week), that doing it alone without a guide was not that bad as you are not quite "alone" anyway.

There's one mistake that maybe not very many tourists make, but that could be fatal, and that is underestimating the danger of nature. The natural surroundings in much of Norway are very different from what most tourists are used to. The terrain is steep, there's often no guardrail even on maintained paths, usually no lights, and the weather can and does change very fast. Always pack a rain jacket for your hike,tell someone where you are going, and listen to local advice.

Hi. Which is the most scenic, train, bus, or this ferry? Do you know some budget accommodation in Flåm?
@XploreNorwayАй бұрын
I think the boat, as it is scenic all the way. The train is very scenic between Flåm and Myrdal. The bus is the least. If you are on a budget don't stay in Flåm. From my research every tourist wants to stay there, and thus the prices are accordingly. (I never stayed in Flåm)
@user-cd9rd7jb2zАй бұрын
@@XploreNorway Thank you very much, agree that Flåm stay would not be reasonable. If one wants to do a budget scenic trip, making most of it in Norway, could it be to do Oslo to Bergen line, stay in Bergen, then Bergen to Flåm and back on the same day in Bergen. Do that Myrdal to Flåm but I guess one has to get to Voss first from Bergen perhaps? Lastly, the Rauma line (Dombås to Åndelssen) but not sure if all of this can be done staying in Bergen only? I searched and Bergen stays are not cheap either but I think comparatively cheaper than Flåm. Any ideas / suggestions welcome. What would be reasonable way to travel from Bergen to Dombås for the Rauma line?
@XploreNorwayАй бұрын
@@user-cd9rd7jb2z Take train to Oslo, then take train to Dombås. (The line just reopened last week). It's 12 h train ride. When are you coming to Norway ? Is it July, that would explain everything. @@XploreNorway yes July but unfortunately could not travel. Would have loved too. Anyways for the knowledge, one has to come back from Bergen to Oslo to take the train to Dombås? During these trips Oslo-Bergen, Bergen -Flåm, Rauma line i.e Dombås which place one should stay. Would Bergen be reasonable but for Rauma line?
@XploreNorwayАй бұрын
@@user-cd9rd7jb2z The Rauma line is like 400 km from Bergen, if you want to do that, you will need to stay either in Dombås or Åndalsnes. There is no way you can do it from Bergen. There is new Golden Trin (?) experience for the Raumaline.
