You start with one of the best youth facilities in Norway, a handful of great talents and Norway is considered attractive to a lot of players (players from less developed nations love to play in high developed nations, I don't remember the exact mechanics of it, but Norway scores really high), so you can easily attract good newgens from Africa and to a certain extent South America. Winning the CL is going to be hard with any Scandinavian team, you are never going to reach the salary levels of English, Italian or Spanish teams. But Tromsø is by no means the most difficult Norwegian team to do it with. If you accept doing a few years of youth development, that is. In previous years, Tromsø had Scandinavias best hoyd as well, in Truls Jenssen. Now he is at Brann, and I don't know if he is still a model citizen, but if you can poach him back, you are set to produce the finest talents in Norway.

Fun fact. During their last game of the season against Stabæk. The Stabæk supporters were cheering on Tromø most of the night hoping their local rivals, Lillestrøm would get relegated instead. That Norway map darwing is completly wrong, 0:37 Trondheim is a bit more north and east, 0:55 And another note: The norwegian season is played from March-November and lately there hasn’t been that much snow in the winters up here so snow shouldn’t be a problem in the Eliteserien matches. Harry Kan also Played in goal vs Tromsø in 2016 :)

The snow and lack of sun aren't so much of a problem during the season, since it runs end of March to the end of November - the sun doesn't set from mid May to the end of July. Of course, these factors are a problem for the players and the club, whilst preparing for the new season, but it doesn't define them. The travel however...

Been to about 400 matches, and played against them in the 90's. Yes, the snow and cold is a huge problem. Several players got injured because the grass was so hard. But I remember most the time TIL played against IFK. - 13 degrees and the only player in shorts and shirt was Karim Essediri from Tunisia

Sucks we got relegated, so we have to spend our 100th year as a club in the second tier.. Oh well in the end it was deserved :( I miss watching us when i was younger, being higher up the table even leading it at times and play in a cup final.. Watching players like Rushfeldt, Yttergård Jensen, Koppinen and other good players was amazing. As long as the pitch is good enough yes. But there have been instances of matches being canceled and given to the away team on walkover far further south in Norway because of hard pitches from frost eg Sandnes Ulf a few months ago. So i can imagine Tromsøs struggles.
