Somehow I missed this vid. I was in Trona about 2 weeks later. Was able to go through their museum, tho it was closed, account my friend had a friend who took us on a tour. One of the curators was a gal in her mid-90's who knew more than anyone else living. I hadn't been in Trona in 35 years

I stopped at the gas station/general store last week, on our way to Ballarat. Neat town. The folks inside the store were very friendly. The area surrounding the plant looks fascinating from google maps/earth.

Have you been to the Trona Pinnacles? Awesome place! Here's the link to a tour I did in January 2018 while we were staying there with friends. kzbin.info/www/bejne/kF6lio2NrKikebM Thanks for checking it out!

Very interesting thanks for the report. Luckily my new property was sparred. Told many sadly were red tagged & residents no longer able to return. Perhaps not even worth repairing.

i remember going to the Library in the early 80's , there was a "David Koresh" looking fellow reading "Mein Kampf"....at a table. My grandma sent me there because I was bored.

Great video on the damage from the earthquake. It was interesting to see all the seismic movement in the land. Any word on how the museum faired?

26:27; Is that area fenced post earthquake for safety reasons or was it always there?
@MarkClayMcGowan2 жыл бұрын
The lake area has been fenced for decades to keep people off of it. It can be a very dangerous place to drive or even walk!

It's a shame that building is not restorable. As you were walking up to it, it looked pretty good. It's not until you see the cracks in the concrete you realize how bad it is. Are there any plans to demolish it or maybe level the concrete?
@MarkClayMcGowan2 жыл бұрын
I'm not sure which building you're speaking of. None had been demolished the last time we were there about three months ago.

What's the difference between trona and Argus are they apart of the same area? I seen the cutoff from Ridgecrest before There's a lot of meth out there isn't there someone mentioned although the challenge trying to revive itself I know it took a hit after the earthquake but someone said there's still a lot of tweakers pretty much around amongst all the abandoned houses even though it seems like some people live there it's not that safe?
@MarkClayMcGowan Жыл бұрын
Argus is part of Trona. It's on the west end of town. I don't know that meth is any bigger a problem in Trona than anywhere else. The abandoned houses seem to be pretty much abandoned of anyone. We visit friends out there regularly and it seems to be very safe.

Earthquake that hit Trona California was a 5.1 Mag Earthquake but I might be wrong and California is overdue for both a big Earthquake and a Volcano Eruption
@MarkClayMcGowan2 жыл бұрын
It was a 6.4 followed 33 hours later by a 7.1 but it wasn't the San Andreas fault, which hasn't had a major shake since 1994. Mt. Shasta erupted about 200 years ago so, yeah!
@danmathers1412 жыл бұрын
I have experienced liquefaction in a small way. It was not an earth quake but demonstrated to me just what it can do.

the major damage was at the China Lake Navy Base,in Ridgecrest--most the base is underground--supposely 3 billion in damage--of course they won't talk about it because it is top secret stuff
