TronicsFix That white disc that is in the disc drive had popped out of place. So after watching your video I fixed it, however I was missing something that was still cause games to not play. It turns out that when I was putting it all back together I didn't put the disc drive underneath the "locating tabs" I think they're called, which you specifically mentioned in the video! It took me many hours to figure this all out, but thanks to your video I saved a chunk of cash, and learned how to assemble and disassemble my ps4 slim, thanks a bunch!

I used this, to replace the thermal paste and clean the heatsink.. you won't believe, how much of a difference this makes, my console sounded like a vacuum cleaner and turned completely silent... i had turn all of my media up to drown the console and now, i have to stop everything that makes noise to check, if the fan even works... 😁💪

For people that are confused yes there's three antennas one your blue tooth for the controllers and other blue tooth devises the other two antennas are you wifi so that's how Sony is boosting the wifi range by giving you two wifi antennas

EVERYONE.... if your from UK and your ps4 blows or breaks down insurer your ps4 with domestic and general do not tell them it is broken. Here because i read on reddit that somebody took their ps4 apart and cleaned it up, in return it booted faster, loaded faster, ect., Here recently I've been dropping connection, knowing it's not my wifi, started to think it was my ps4. My husband and I tried to clean in the insides of the playstation 4 slim 1tb and the plate over the van and disc area won't come off, there is little black clips or bobbles that can't undo or remove. We did take out all screws and followed each step to your video but we can't get the plate loss or remove it and the game discs won't read either like morrowind and red dead redemption 2 help we need to understand on what we can do

Hope you used good paste and not AS5 something like say at least MX-4 is the lowest thermally conductive paste I would use but I like the high end thermal pastes like TG kryonaut, and kryonaut extreme, Kingpin KPX, Gelid CG, and then MX-4 just to have around for emergencies like I run out of TG and need to re-paste something and I use it for my dads laptops

After viewing this video, I just took a hard swallow. Time killer for sure. The Xbox One and One S are WAY easier to dismantle but when I search for broken consoles on eBay I see more Xbones.... Also, a huge point of failure for those Xboxes are the hard drives and it's 50-50 if it will take new install especially if there's an issue with the NAND flash drive. At least Sony got it right since PS3 with allowing end users the ability to easily upgrade their internal storage.

I just bought a used ps4 slim from gamestop. Its ran fine. No issues whatsoever. However im paranoid about buying used things so i wanted to see the inside. From what i can see its in great shape. However 4 of the screws on the metal fan cover are a small black screw that are all stripped. Idk if they did maintnance at game stop. Or the previous owner clesned it and just switched the screws. Do i call game stop, they give a 7 day warranty for anything that goes wrong, and i opted in for a 30 year warranty.

Sony does not have to offer a warranty, they do so as a selling point...You have every right to repair, a sticker should not stop you. However, Sony has the right to void the warranty if they know it was worked on. Say you sold me a product with a warranty, and I bring it back saying it doesnt work and the thing is in pieces with missing screws, or screws in the wrong spot, are you just gonna give me a new one?

OMG, this helped me out, but . . . during the removal of the power supply i ran into a small problem that lead to hours of pain and sorrow. When removing the screw to the power supply on the bottom of the console the screw was extremely hard to get off. It was so difficult that the screw became stripped it one go. I sat there struggling trying to get the screw out, I even tried using things such as rubberbands or the glue technique, but they didnt help at all. I ended up just taking my chances and ripping the Old power supply out of it. Thankfully it all worked out in the end.

Thanks. Yes, I ended up buying a PS4 Slim too and after about 2-3 hours of gameplay, my hands are hotter from using the Dualshock more than the vents area of the device. So it's a thumbs up. I'd advice for a PS4 Slim than going for a PS4 Pro. But that's just a personal preference I guess. Guess just a couple Xbox fanboys spread the wrong news. I ended up contacting Best Buy's Geek Squad and even they advised it heats up less.

Same here. Right now games only scale upto a 4K or 8K since AAA games are coded to scale up to whatever resolution we play on. But no game or in-game CGI is made on a 1080P resolution as of yet. Maybe Final Fantasy XV will upgrade it's PS4 version for a 1080P. If you're into HD graphics and environments, do check out Final Fantasy XV (comes out November 29th) and Horizon in 2017.

The heatsink area feels quite warm when it crashes, but, when it crashes it doesn't make any sound or give me any warning. No indication of overheating apart from touching and feeling that the ps4 is warm. Any thoughts on this?

I've watched your other fixit videos and Knowingly this channel w the best place to go for a ps4 slim tare down. I've purchased the slim silver for cheap. Seller said it didn't read discs. So I've done my tare down like I normally do on the pro's. Seemed simple enough. It's completely filthy inside with a mix of dust and nicotine. Then the plastic is stained with nicotine. It's recommended to use baking soda and give the plastic a scrub but I use isopropanol alcohol or rubbing alcohol that I use to clean the chips etc. It removes the staines like wiping dust, so much more effective than baking soda. Will clean it throughout and see if the bluray drive can be cleaned, laser etc. Otherwise a replacement drive will be fitted. Only thing is that theres these 2 small parts that I don't recognise just kindsma fell out. Not sure where they go. So that's why I wanted to see this tare down. Nothing in this video shows these 2 loose parts? I'll work it out

PS4 got electronic thermal protection,, if temperature goes too high the the light bar (in slim it placed on button) with go red and will automatically turn off to prevent any damage (or else APU will burn faster which is rare :p). This won't prevent possible long term heat damages, like self unsolidifyng on tiring of solid material (kind of like issue that causing RROD in 360s and YLOD in PS3)

Can weather affect the fan noise? Was using the thing a week ago and couldn’t hear it but there’s a heatwave and it’s like 30C and it got fairly loud after playing for a minute

Hi Steve. I accidentally dropped my PS4 and it stopped successfully reading discs. I watched this video, ordered a new laser and got stuck in. I noticed when I opened the disc drive a small white magnetic wheel was out of place, so I re-aligned that and put it back together. I did not replace the laser. I excitedly anticipated the ‘moment of truth’ and now it won’t even get to the part where it’ll read discs. The disc will insert ok and then a heavy whirring noise will persist and it won’t register as if a disc has been inserted on screen. Pretty lost for what to do now! Help or advice would be greatly appreciated! Thanks, Sean.
