The second full rehearsal for Trooping the Colour 2014 took place on Horse Guards Parade in London on Saturday 7 July 2014. An otherwise perfect weekend's weather was marred by torrential rain from passing thunderstorms as the Guards marched from Wellington Barracks along the Mall to start the ceremony. The wet weather only improved towards the end of the ceremony.
The Colour being trooped this year was that of Nijmegen Company, Grenadier Guards. The salute on this occasion was taken by Major General Sir George Norton, CBE, Regimental Lieutenant Colonel Grenadier Guards.
The Colonel's Review would normally be taken by HRH Prince Philip, but he was in Normandy with the Queen for the D-Day commemorations. There were no Royal Colonels on parade and this is why the drum majors were not wearing State Dress.
This video shows two of the Guards bands marching in the downpour from Wellington Barracks towards The Mall and Horse Guards Parade. As far as I can tell none of these bands had their Directors of Music marching with them (very unusual).
After the trooping ceremony, and in better weather, we see the King's Troop riding down the Mall. Following are the mounted bands of the Blues and Royals which will shortly be 'merged' into one band. Next are the massed bands with the Corps of Drums playing (and in fine form). Finally we see the foot guards marching back to Buckingham Palace behind the colour that was trooped.
