Trooping The Colour 2022 Rehearsal. Major General's Review.

Trooping the Colour reviewed by The Major General is identical to Trooping the Colour reviewed by HM The Queen, with the exception that it excludes the Guardsmen Street Lining on the Mall and some additional mounted officers ride when Her Majesty The Queen is present.
Taking part will be up to 1450 soldiers of the Household Division and The King’s Troop Royal Horse Artillery, along with up to 400 musicians from the Massed Bands, all of whom will parade on Horse Guards for the first of two formal Reviews.
The soldiers will be inspected by Major General Christopher Ghika CBE, Major General Commanding the Household Division.

Great bands! Can anyone tell me why the clarinet player (Welsh Guards/next to last rank/center) is carrying a sword?

The reason that musician carries a sword is because he has an Appointment which allows him to carry a sword. I believe he's the Bandmaster, Bandmasters aren't Officers but are NCOs. Some NCOs are allowed to Carry swords because of their Appointments. The other musician who would also carry a sword in the Band is the Band Sergeant Major (BSM). The 3rd Person who carries a sword within the Band would be the Director of Music (DOM) who's the Major of the Band, He does Carry a sword because of the Officers Rank. Hope this helps and makes sense!

security observation, most of the militarized security are using the mcx 300 black out, i observed one soldier with a g36 c with an eotec sight. if things get messy and he gets hit no one can take his mags to continue the fight. why are the lads using 2 different calibers?

These are armed police and are not expected to be in a protracted firefight where interchangeability of ammo is expected. Also, all police weapons do not have an automatic capability, single fire only. Having said that, even military units have differing calibres of ammo for support and sustainability.
