Sir, if u bothered to do some research on the subject, u wouldn't have made such statement. It's called a "shooting stick" and is only carried when they are dressed in the camouflage (fatigue) for field walk. It has an platform that serves as a seat. So, it's not for walking. They carry in case they need to sit at some point in the field. Wisdom is profitable to direct. There is so much info online. Let's endeavour to do research as much as possible. It builds our capacity!

Why is the military officer speaking to the press?. Only the Defense Minister should address the press on behalf of the military and also they should stop painting their escort vehicles those camouflage colors , it doesnt make sense. You are not on the battlefield. Lack of simple protocols!

Lol, please permit me to educate you. He is the Commander of the unit carrying out operations targeted at illegal oil bunkerers and that's his Area of Responsibility (AOR), hence why he is speaking to the press . Any issue beyond him, he will forward to his his superiors which is not solely the Chief of Defense Staff or Minister of Defence. Please note that there is what is called channel of communication in the military. Only issues that require the presidency input go to the Minister of Defense. There is more but I can't say all here

For the vehicles, it is for security reasons and mostly used in units where operations are carried out. Please note that Camouflaged vehicles are not used in the war front alone.
