Had dramas as well whilst fitting the airbox with lots of sharp edges to scratch your new car's paint. I have had to take it out a few times because of rats chewing through hoses in the engine bay. I found it much easier to unscrew the nut from under the wheel arch and which holds the bracket on the bottom of the air box then take the flexible joint of the section of the intake piping off right before the MAF sensor. Place the silicone joiner on the safari snorkel then you can assemble the entire airbox and put it in place. you then screw the bracket which holds the bottom of the air box onto the bottom of the air box. Afterwards, place the entire airbox into the engine bay and manipulate the welded bolt on the bottom bracket back into the hole under the wheel arch. Screw the nut under the wheel arch and you avoid having to screw the awkward bolt on from under the airbox. Then bolt the 2 top bolts into place. I then push the flexible joint back onto the air intake starting at the MAF sensor first and then joining the other end to the airbox. It takes about 20 mins to install. If you round the edges place some tape on the lugs where you bolt the air box to the car and the thread on the welded bolt which is located on the bracket you should eliminate the scratches. Also, try and check the seal towards the tang as the rubber seal from the air filter can come out I was using a Repco filter though so that may have something to do with it. Best of luck on the big lap!

Cheers brother, yeah I ended up getting it from underneath. Bloody tight ay 😂 doing this the first time is always the hardest. Hopefully won’t need to pull it back out 🤞🏽

Great to see the closing stages of your build. I don’t like that tang idea on the air box though. Even the replaced one the tang seemed to be way too short. Why didn’t they just put another two bolts one that side beats me?
@hookin Жыл бұрын
Yeah it still looks like it should be in further but there is no way it can come out, I put it to the test 😂 it’s like that so it can be slid out when changing air filter due to the way it sits in there. They just tight because of the bigger air filter. Hopefully should be sweet now mate 🤙🏽 cheers bro. A few fit out vids coming up 👍🏼

Awesome Vid thks so much. Question. I have a 2011 model pre pdf. Pretty well set up everywhere except i havent touched the engine. Have always been a bit wary as im not a mechanic. Want to tow our van so i have started looking at the DP Chip for a bit better grunt when towing but after watching ur vid what is the pros cons chip v map. Cheers Johno

Hi Johno, cheers for the feedback and watching the video. Firstly just know that I am a plant mechanic so I am not an expert in this field. This is just my opinion and the reason why I decided this would be best for myself. I just had a quick squizz at the dp chip as I’m not familiar with it. The plug and play chips like dp are a generic file that has been created for the engines to provide you with the increase. So I assume tested across different engines to provide somewhat consistent and safe gains. These can also be removed without changing original ECM parameters which is a positive if there are any issues. The custom tunes like what I had actually monitors the engines output real time, watches it’s response to adjusting turbo boost and air fuel ratio to ensure optimum output of the engine but not allowing any parameters to become unsafe to the combustion of the engine. So the pro’s would be maximising the output. Being real-time also allowed for slight differences like the intake and exhaust for example. You know exactly where your car is at in regards to power and torque at the wheels. The con is as you are adjusting the ECM parameters, I’d you have any issues you cannot just unplug it. It has to be taken to someone who can plug in, determine the problem and fix id required. I personally know a lot of guys who has had this completed and no issues that I am aware of. Hence why I went with it 😊 hope this helps mate. Any other questions feel free to hit me up or DM me on Insta 🤙🏽 Ben

Do you reckon the bigger airbox has made any difference in efficiency? Is the snorkle induction noise sound a little louder being its a bigger airbox? Longer term review... Cheers
@hookin6 ай бұрын
Hey mate, can’t really comment on efficiency. It was fitted basically when the tune was done, so unsure of individual parts performance. It’s a lot more air flow mate so definitely cant hurt. Definitely a bit more induction noise 👍🏼

hi mate what about fuel economy after tuning your troopy are u getting the same fuel eco or higher tnx
@hookin3 ай бұрын
About the same mate tbh, obviously more when you need or want to use the power it increases. Generally speaking I will get 12litres per 100kms avg it goes up to 18 when I have the 2t boat on the back. Not bad. Cheers mate
