Hello mate, nice setup, i have a nice 84 Hj60 that i would like to turbo, did you change the pistons or did you just adapted the turbo and adjust fuel injection. We have heard that these engine could broke if not properly installed.

Great outline of what to do and what results are possible. Many thanks for the video.
@jute918 жыл бұрын
Sure the engine can handle more than 15psi (1bar) of boost. There is a triple turbo 2H in australia that uses now 70psi (4,8bar). Google for it. Engine has stock internals, only copper head gasket and oversized head bolts. stock head gasket will give up around 2bars. There is lot of hj60 owners in here Finland using constantly 1,5bar of boost with stock engine. Uppgrading intake and exhaust manifolds will effect a lot! Cheers

They say that it isnt the boost that kills the engine, it's the exhaust temp.

Hi Troopy , I have a question, what material use for Motor Head Seal when put the turbo, any idea??
@harveysmith1005 жыл бұрын
Was really enjoying that over here in the freezing cold UK, that motor would love the cold dense air this winter, then, just as I was tucking into my porridge you mentioned the N word. Do you know how difficult it is to get porridge off of a laptop screen? Not when I am eating please.

where did you get oil pressure for the turbo and how big lining do you have? I have been thought about taking it from vacuum pump but wondering if there's enough flow for turbo
@troopy0018 жыл бұрын
Put a T piece where the oil pressure switch is located underneath the inlet manifold towards the rear. Not sure what size hose it is. It came with the Denco Kit. Probably find the oil line on EBay.

Great video! Did you flip the exhaust manifold? Are you on TOA?

The turbo kit came with a manifold. Just fitted it as per the instructions. Pardon my ignorance but what's TOA

shouldn't the temperature be metered right before the turbo where it creates the highest back pressure? I would think that there's a huge pressure drop after turbo when expanding into downpipe?
@troopy0018 жыл бұрын
The exhaust gasses will be hotter before the turbo. I don't think the backpressure in the exhaust adds to the exhaust temp. The location of my EGT sensor is pretty standard. Cheers.
@mariuslouw782 жыл бұрын
Best location is before turbo, but I guess as long as you adjust max temp for location it will be fine ( pre turbo will most probably be 200deg above post) It’s still going so it’s clearly working. Well done on doing a mod that most people warn you against. I was put off trying to boost my dad’s fj62. Wish i did it, stokers are dogs.

as i see you do nothing with diesel pump vacuum managment fyd it's work well? Because i know that 2H and 12H-T fuel pumps have a different control principal, naturally aspirated use pressure differense before and after air throttle valve. A'm now on the start of a long long way to turbo my 2H and your opinion will be halpfull!
@andrewritchie99837 жыл бұрын
As you wind the fuel up with the 2H motor it becomes smoky at low revs with no boost. As I understand it the 12 HT motor compensates for the smokiness when not on boost that's the difference with the vacuum regulators. I found with my setup that if you wind the fuel pump up to the point that it's very smoky off idle the exhaust gas temperature is too high when on full load for extended periods. With mine my EGTs max out around 450°C and acceptable smoke at low revs. Cheers. I'm not an expert. Just documenting my experiences.

Fantastic old weapon. Hope you were joking about the TD42. I had a giggle. My old 2h overheated many times cause of a cracked head gasket but no worries. Kept driving for many years with a bigger radiator and no thermostat. It finally gave up the ghost when the bottom end dropped out at 580k then I put in a 12ht. First Nissan I ever owned was a 89 TD42 non turbo with 185k and the water pump let go. Fried the motor and played transformers. It turned it into a to a boat anchor on the side of the Ipswich motorway in peak hour traffic. Fuck Nissans
