@MayorHairBear the tomb raider 2013 reboot multiplayer is possible completely by yourself( for the level grind) the random trophies you will need atleadt 1 person. I promise you the game is worth it it’s really good and the no trophies are not that bad and can be done relatively smoothly
@masterkratos09299 ай бұрын
For me, It would be Messiah from Outlast 2. Some of the encounters are inconsistent and it is hard when you are playing in pitch-black darkness. I think that permadeath is the type of trophy that affects me the most. I'm fine with The Last of Us games since there are checkpoints, but ones that are set on the highest difficulty are ones I don't go for. those just require you to play the game flawlessly, especially in Mein Leben.

Collectible trophies/achievements can be pretty good if they give the player an encouragement to collect them. Prototype 2 did it quite nicely. I think the multiple playthrough trophies are interesting because on the surface they don't seem to bad/wouldn't burn you out, IF you didn't do them back to back. Like if you beat the game, put it down, leave for a month or two and then come back, it doesn't sound too bad. But if you're making content for it, like you do, and you need to platinum it for the video, it makes sense that can burn you out veeerry quickly. Especially for longer games, like Open-world games, or longer RPGs.
@MayorHairBear9 ай бұрын
Yeah that's a really good point and something I should have clarified! This is all from the perspective of doing this for a job because obviously in terms of multiple playthroughs yeah put the game down and come back and you're sweet but in terms of making content I sort of need that platinum experience to be done and that is where the burn out sinks in

I just finished Amnesia: Rebirth, and it was a short game you had to play twice, with collectables. The 2nd play-through was a tight speed run, but you could glitch through walls to by pass sections of the levels. And some of the collectibles you only had to collect a certain number of, not all, for the trophy to pop. I get where you are coming from (after collecting over a 100 platinums) when looking into games to platinum. And I use a lot of the same methods in choosing them. But I also look a little deeper to see how much leeway some medals have as a deciding factor. Some of them may actual be a lot easier than what the medal seems to state or intended - due to glitches, or lack of programmer foresight, that make them easier to do.

I have one game in my trophy list that I will forever be unable to get the plat in because it was the first game I ever played on the PS3 and the servers went down before I even knew what trophies were. Also I would like to bring up one type of trophy that you haven't covered that I find very annoying. It's the one that forces you to play a game in a very specific liniar way with no room for free choices, especially in a game where you can make free choices. The big offender here is The Witcher 3. I forgot which trophy it was but you had play through the game in a very specific way, enganging in conversations with NPC in a specific order such as to not lock yourself out of a side mission as well as making specific dialog choices no matter what you might want to choose yourself. Such trophies are horrible because you get locked out of playing the game as it's supposed to be played since you have to follow a guide down to the T. It's a great game, but having to have a guide with me start to finish kinda ruined the experience a bit for me. No idea why developers think that something like this would be a good idea for players to go through when experiencing their game.

The deathless runs are the hardest, most frustrating to get! But the most rewarding, I'd gotten Ori and the Blind forest on steam and still the hardest gaming achievement I've got to date

Star Ocean Last Hope had something like “pick up every item in the game”. 100% with some sections being one time only areas. I never even attempted it. Lots of achievements like that. I completed the game at something like 25%

I have my own seperate trophy hunter account which I made for platniuming or 100% completing a game. It's gone well... until I accidently played BO Cold War (thinking I was on my normal account) and got a trophy which made me have to try and go for all of them now & I just can't do it, from playing dead gamemodes like fireteam dirtybomb to getting the easter eggs for zombies solo (I don't like playing zombies). So yeah I gave up on trying to platinum it and when I go through my trophy list it's like a stain and it hurts me every time I see it

I would love to plat Cold War but yeah the dead mode trophies are such a red flag!

Missable trophies are the worst. Last of Us 1/2 made me want to cry sometimes because you'd walk through a door only for it forever lock behind you. No warning. No sign that it's door to the next chapter. Sometimes you'd just be looting an apartment and go to leave and bamn! new chapter.

It was my first go at a platinum and it was a bad choice. Got through a playthrough missing 13 parts for Abby and had to play the first half again to get them. Lesson learned.@@MayorHairBear

When a game requires 3+ playthroughs I completely dread doing it. Resident Evil is one of my favorite franchises and I’ve completed a decent amount of those games but going for the platinum on 1 and 0 is something I’ve been dreading and putting off for years. Rng/long grinds also drive me insane. Injustice 2’s cat fight and dbfz set for life are just soul crushing. I opted to use a turbo exploit for those

Blacksad is the only game I’ve failed to platinum because of collectables. The sports cards glitched so at least one was missing. (The game handles them all wrong anyway so it’s natural it’d mess up.) one day I’ll try again.

RNG trophies are such a pain in the ass. AC Origins had me roaming the desert for HOURS trying to get a random event to happen, I was so annoyed

I'm currently running through Returnal and the RNG for the ciphers are just the worst. I have 4 more biomes to collect for (to get the platinum) and I've already clocked in 37hours...

Missing dialogue like in assassin's creed 1 and Tomb Raider definitive edition. I had to do a 2nd playthrough only because I missed one dialogue from one character.

I agree with all your points except the one regarding resident evil games but it seems I'm not the first one in the comments to suggest you try them out. The requirements for these games seem insane on first glance but really aren't that bad once you get into them. And that's coming from someone who usually tries to avoid playing games on the hardest difficulty and also someone who hates multiple playthroughs. I don't even like having to play the same game twice but a resident evil game I can easily do 5 runs in a row. It doesn't feel like just playing the same game multiple times but rather like a roguelike, where it's just natural to do run after run. That's probably because you have different challenges in these different runs. And most of the time, the requirements aren't really that bad. For example I think RE2 you have to beat in under 3 hours or so and you can usually do it in 1h 30m if you already know all the right ways. Resident Evil Village if you do your first playthrough on normal or hard difficulty, then you're already good enough to do a "knife only"-speedrun on your 2nd playthrough, where you just avoid most of the enemies. Might even be able to combine it with the "no-healing" and "don't talk to the merchant"-trophies, if you do it in new game+. That's how easy that game is. You can then get an infinite ammo weapon that basically one-shots everything and do your 3rd playthrough on the highest difficulty and it will feel easier than your first normal playthrough. So if you're still unsure, you could start with RE Village because I think that's the easiest platinum. Although actually the platinum of RE2 is quite easy aswell because you don't have to get all the in game achievements done in order to get the platinum. Like for the platinum, you don't even need to get an S+ rank on hardcore difficulty but I would highly reccomend to do it anyway because it unlocks the infinite rocket launcher, which completely breaks the game and makes every other challenge a breeze. Sorry for the wall of text. I guess I like Resident Evil 😅
@MayorHairBear9 ай бұрын
Yeah the RE example seems to be a big point of contention but hey, I'm down to try one soon and get that monkey off my back!

@ddgnp10579 ай бұрын
I just hate no damage ones in general, especially in games with melee focus. I could clear a whole room in a normal playthrough without a scratch but the moment you tell me to it just gets in my head. The God of War games have one of those challenges in every game and I've only ever done a couple of them.

Biggest one for me has to be missable collectibles. I like going in blind as I can for a first play through and sitting there with a collectible guide just annoys me. Being forced to unlock harder difficulty aswell. Just let me attempt it from the beginning lol
@MayorHairBear9 ай бұрын
I used to be the same mate and if I can, I still like to go in blind but I do check now for missables and if a game has them I'm getting that guide ready!

Re3 is a good game to get over the nerves of speed running. It’s very short and once you play through it a couple times you can finish within the time constraint very easily.

@@MayorHairBear There's actually a game called Kingdom Come: Deliverance (great medieval game, by the way, but a difficult plat), where you have to go through the entire main story of the game without killing a single enemy/person (except for the final boss) for a trophy. Also, where you had to go the entire game without losing your virginity... when there's two other story trophies for sleeping with two different woman (mutually exclusive at that). I think that's probably the worst I've seen, but it makes sense considering how complicated the combat is and how the main character is a peasant, not a knight.

I really recommend trying to platinum a RE game. The speedrun seems bad but after the first playthrough you’ll usually cut down 2/3 of time. Plus after some playthroughs they also have bonus weapons etc that make it way too easy. Btw I recommend starting with RE2 if you plan on doing one
@MayorHairBear9 ай бұрын
Yeah I think we'll tackle some RE in the near future because I agree. I feel like once we get our feet wet and see what it's all about it wouldn't be that bad just from afar it looks daunting!

pretty much it’s multiplayer especially with multiplayer trophies you gotta worry about getting them asap as to single player trophies and grindy trophies you can get them whenever as the servers can go down at any moment

Online, permadeath and RNG trophies can get in the bin. I spent over 200 hours on Injustice 2 going for a single trophy, to use a specific move that only drops from lootboxes. I think my total was somewhere between 18 and 20 thousand lootboxes opened before i got it. My friend got it in his first few hours of playing the game. I don't mind grindy trophies though, as long as I know im making progress. I find it quite relaxing sometimes to put on a podcast or a movie or something, switch my brain off and plug away at a "Get 100 kills with weapon x, y and z" trophies. Especially if they have in game progress trackers. Maybe im weird in that but I do quite like those trophies sometimes.

Guardians of the Galaxy was brutal for missable collectibles. Youre always one automatic quick save away from being locked out of a trophy requiring a full 2nd playthrough.
@Monkey_SK9 ай бұрын
I can agree with the multi play through trophies, these can be such a time sink. Plus risk making a game you have enjoyed, turn into something you hate just down to wanting to get the thing finished. That's why I now only aim to hit a 50% plus percent, on a first playthrough and then will wait any number of years before going for a plat or 100%. This year I revisited AC Revelations and got 100% after having last played the game to plat at 84% back in 2013. So by 2034 hopefully some of the games I'm playing now might eventually get a plat and/or 100% 😂

I could go on for days about specific achievements, that demand too much of the player. In particular, I don’t think anything will be as bs as the Halo MCC LASO achievement that for some dumb reason is worth a measly 50 points
