You head to the trophy gallery and admire the ones you've unlocked so far, reading some of the descriptions with this tune playing in the background. You can smell dinner being prepared in the kitchen as time gets away from you and the sun starts to set. Life is good, and you stop for a moment to appreciate just how beautiful the simplest things can be.

Ultimate and the original don't have trophies, and Melee is just listening to the menu them (which in itself makes for a great trophy gallery theme).

@@giygas_9577 Unfortunately this is true. At launch there were over 1000 spirits in the game and with each new DLC character, it grows (And sometimes just at random.) Giving an image of a character a 1-2 paragraph description would be quite tiresome and time consuming. Especially considering how quickly ultimate came after Wii U and 3DS.

I miss trophies, just browsing through all these lovingly made models and reading interesting little descriptions about games I hadn't heard of nor played, or ones I did, and just arranging cool little scenes with them and the stickers. Spirits are dope as hell for referential fights and make WoL fun, but I definitely miss having more laid back modes like this, something to check out in-between fights with no music trying to just pump you up all the time.

God this takes me back. I’d spend hours in Brawl doing everything; Diving through trophies descriptions, playing those 5-minute demos and the coin launcher, listening to all the music from games I’d never even heard of before… I’m sad that Smash Bros doesn’t have all the little flourishes anymore, but I’m happy that I got to have them as a kid. I remember as a kid I played a lot of video games on the Wii and GameCube but it really took me a long time to realize how hard the music slapped back then. I wish I could enjoy those days when I didn't have to worry about things like the Pythagorean theorem, macroeconomics, biology, literature and philosophy and German and just embrace the times I spent playing Brawl and other games on Wii remote and nunchuck sitting behind my older brothers on stools in our room as I get destroyed and still loved that time. Although sounding corny, now I'm just a sad and empty vessel of what I was.

This just makes me think of all the characters in a museum filled with all the trophies in the game just looking at their history. Sonic and mario taking photos of each other's trophies, peach and bowser walking with bowser junior by their side (that's right. For many years I told people my happiest memory was staying up late at night without my parents knowing, playing brawl and unlocking all the trophies and characters. Wild to me they stopped doing trophies and descriptions altogether. I always thought one of smash's primary functions was to kinda advertise the represented series. Reading through trophies made me feel more invested in all the series in brawl I'd never played (or never heard of) and made me want to play them. In the case of Earthbound, Pikmin, Metroid, Starfox, and F-Zero, I got into those series because of brawl specifically.

I think I put more hours into SSB Brawl than literally any other videogame I ever owned, and yet, Brawl never seemed to overstay its welcome. At the time of its release, it was one of the coolest games ever, and as you say it had what felt like endless content for someone like me who delighted in making my own stages to brawl on (not to mention all the other content).

Super Smash Bros. Brawl is, so far, the only game I’ve ever played I’ve given a 10/10 rating to, provided that’s only if you count The Subspace Emissary as part of this game and not its own standalone thing. This trophy gallery theme is a big part of why- there’s a surprising amount of replayability here in getting most of these, and with how trophy drops work in SSE, you’re actually rewarded for playing through the adventure mode multiple times over. Being able to come back and read the trophy descriptions with this theme playing is really something that makes me appreciate the amount of effort that went into this game.

Very nostalgic, and I completely wish that they put a trophy Gallery smash ultimate. But at least most of us have Brawl still and can play it whenever we like.

The amount of time I spent as a kid playing pretend with the trophies. I would place them out and imagine some sort of battle/confrontation. It was fun as hell!
