I think Mel is strong and really unique. I've been using her speed boost with melee weapons and the unstoppable skill tree. Using the speed boost after a heal to run up, surprise attack one guy, gain momentum, take down another enemy, duck behind cover to heal, repeat. Adds to a lot of builds while staying one of the safest picks when you want to play more reserved.

Just had a pretty broken run with Mel. On my first Assault encounter I got a bonus parts for crafting modifier. So I kept one enemy alive to shoot me so I could heal, craft a medkit, then repeat. That one encounter got me like 230 parts right off the bat. I maxed out her revolver and a pump action within two encounters and absolutely sailed through the rest. I had a Hunted round in the dark and cramped restaurant where I got 19 kills. Which is pretty damn good for me. Starting out on the right foot really makes a difference.

I found a 'push square' article after googling, it says this can be done as Ellie with perseverence tree for 50% better medkit and the other skill tree which gives bigger health bar.. I'll check this out and let you know.

Yes this worked for me playing as Ellie maxing perseverence, close quarters and unstoppable skill trees and molotiving myself near death and healing with a single medkit
