I am so glad that you enjoyed the footage of this incredible rainfall event! Yes, the sounds were quite relaxing to listen to, despite the extensive water accumulation from this historical rainfall!

Thanks so much Travis. That was one of the most intense rainstorms I've ever seen. I know quite a few people that got flooded. Incredible. Thanks for the video. I guess it's good to live on a top floor at times like this.

@SkyOfTheUniverse - You are more than welcome! Yes, the flooding (and power failures) were quite ubiquitous in the region following this historical event. Although this rainfall was undoubtedly very impressive, I think the most intense rainfall rates that I can remember were during the May 16th, 2022 thunderstorm out here in the West Island, as well as those rates observed during the August 2nd, 2020 and August 10th, 2021 thunderstorms. The July 14th, 1987 thunderstorm event unleashed 100.2 mm of rainfall in under 2 hours over greater Montreal - that reaches or exceeds some of the amounts registered locally yesterday in less than 2 hours' time! And yes, the view offered from here really grants a nice perspective!

@@StormChaserFilmography thanks for the information! Yes, I remember hearing about the Décarie flood. The sewers can't seem to handle these intense rain storms that happen more often.

I am so glad that you have footage of it from your area, too! I am looking forward to seeing it! And yes, thunderstorm risks exist tomorrow afternoon (August 11th)! :)

Yes, it was awful...and then the severe thunderstorm family of yesterday exacerbated the situation locally. :(

I'm late but this rainstorm was crazy. My basement almost flooded and we had to mop up the water and throw everything outside in the rain. And the grass could no longer absorb the water. In short it was sick

Thank you so much for your comment, and no worries for the delay! Yes, it was quite remarkable how this managed to occur. The ground already was nearly saturated from the rainfall during the remnants of Hurricane Beryl of July 10th, 2024, and other contributions from thunderstorms on other days. How long did it take for the water to recede in your area after the remnants of Hurricane Debby?
@aminemechti32692 ай бұрын
@@StormChaserFilmography my street was not flooded, just my basement a litle bit. And the grass.
@StormChaserFilmography2 ай бұрын
@@aminemechti3269 - Ah, I see! That's still a lot of water accumulation for that to happen!

The island of Montreal received the remnants of two Hurricanes just one month apart (Hurricane Beryl on July 10th, and the Hurricane Debby on August 9th)

Still some chance for Hurricane Ernesto to curve farther West, but the most likely trajectory is towards Newfoundland and Eastern portions of the Maritimes. That said, that Hurricane would help to channel much cooler air during mid-week this coming week, so we would have some indirect effects in that sense.

How tf can a Quebec impact quebec that much ?
@StormChaserFilmography5 ай бұрын
It was a historical one-day rainfall (154 mm at YUL), and the ground's soil moisture was already trending above normal. As such, it became a situation where this often heavy rainfall could not be properly absorbed and, thus, led to flash-flooding in many areas (especially low-lying areas).
