So nice that you stay off the interstate so we can actually see the state you are driving through. Back in the day when I was taking long road trips we always tried to take local highways rather than the interstate. You see so much more of the countryside and find adventures you never planned. Commenting before I see you go to tunnel. It's 17 miles long, it's a bridge - tunnel- bridge - tunnel. The maintenance takes a yoeaftom one end to the other. So it's continuance. It's us a bit expensive, but there's a lot of bridge/ tunnel to maintain. 😊 LOVING 💙💙💙 thus ride, Post.

Post10: I’m not sure if you are aware of this but, when you went to the train wreck in Ohio..you was very close to a county in western pennsylvania, Named Beaver County..in it is towns named Beaver, and Big Beaver, Beaver Falls the Beaver River, little beaver. And it gets lots of rain and flooding in the area , with the Ohio River running through beaver county.. and hundreds of tributaries, you maybe should consider a visit.. Just a idea a potential trip idea.. love the show ❤

When you were driving through the Salisbury MD area, you were about an hour away from where I live. Whenever we go south we take that route, down over the Chesapeake bridge-tunnel. It sure beats the alternative of I-95 through the DC/ Fredericksburg VA route. If you ever get around the Maryland area again, we would be happy to have you spend the night so you wouldn’t have to sleep in your truck in a parking lot. You are a good guy and I enjoy your videos. That bridge and tunnels were just mentally taxing. I drove over one going to Miami and it scared the hell out of me , so much so that I asked my sister to drive for the return journey . It wasn’t as long as that so I don’t know how you did that . I kept shutting my eyes whilst watching as it was giving me the same feeling I had before . It’s the fact that there is the sea on either side and you can’t see the end so your fingers get tighter and tighter round the wheel and the amount of concentration needed is exhausting.

17:28 Wait, are those fuel prices? $3.499 per gallon?! If that is true, then... WOW THAT IS CHEAP! $3.499 is about 3.309€, and 1 gallon is 3.785 liters. So $3.499 per gallon is 0.874€ per liter. Price in Germany is around 1.81€-1.97€ per liter, so 207-225% more expensive.

Wait!! You didn't tell us how far you went! The CBBT drops you out in VA, did you get as far as NC? I also want to thank you for the drive over the bridge and through the tunnels. When you look at the bridge from an aerial standpoint, it's cool to see that it looks like the bridge just ends at the water. I've taken the CBBT a couple of times, and it does feel like forever going across, but seeing the water always allowed me to take a few moments to reflect. Thanks for not fast-forwarding through that part of your journey, it was a bitter-sweet trip down memory lane that has a special place in my heart. Due to unforeseen circumstances, I don't believe I'll have the opportunity to take the trip again myself. ❤ Thanks for sharing.

I used to work for VDOT about 3 counties to the west of where this bridge/tunnel is. I think it’s even stephen. The bridge gets more exposure, but the tunnel needs to be checked more often, because it’s under water.

That 2nd tunnel...the building there WAS a restaurant, gift, and rest rooms. You could sit and look out the window over the Chesapeake Bay while eating and relaxing. There are huge boulders/rocks surrounding it. Also, you could fish. I don't know why they took that way and just the bldg there. Don't know what it's used for. 😢 Did buy a few souvenirs.

Were there nightmares about beavers clogging the CBBT, subsequent to this? Thank you for the drive over/through the Bridge-Tunnel. Usually, I'm too focused on the road to see the little details, like the tiles, the waves, and the fact that each tunnel leg has a different name. That was fun.

I heard that the Chesapeake bay bridge tunnel gift shop and restaurant is closed to the public because of the project of making a southbound tunnel for both tunnel but they couldn't get enough permits for the project so it now halted. I LOVE the Chesapeake Bay-Bridge Tunnel!! It's a great highlight on the way to the Outer Banks of NC from the NE. The fishing pier/rest stop is the best part, and a must stop. Too bad it is closed and looks like they are doing major work there. UPDATE: Oh I'm SAD. I read that they demolished the restaurant and gift shop, and that the fishing pier may not reopen until 2027, 5 years later than initially planned.
