I just want to add, Musa Basjoo is hardy to lows even below -20 Degree Celsius if you give it a thick mulching and wrapp all into garden fleece.

Just wow! How well you have used this tiny space to build tropical garden. You have to make another video what zone you’re in and name of each plants and care of them..watering, fertilizing etc. Please 🙏🏼 make video soon and I am so looking forward to it and spread the word around so everyone can learn from you! ❤

I also have a tiny garden and love the idea of growing trees like you have. But my husband say's that i would have a problem with the roots spreading. Can you suggest anything where this would't happen. Thank you

Hi If you plant into the ground, do you dig the plant up before first frost or have you left it in the ground?

That's such an incredible lush garden in an unexpected location. Kudos for that!! I also have a tropical spot in my garden here in Spain near the sea, and it doesn't look as beautiful as yours. I can't plant bromeliads here so that tiger mosquitoes won't spread as hell. Maybe you should try with the impressive Tetrapanax Papyrifer. This plant thrives in very humid locations and takes cold spells. Turns out mine was burnt by the excessive dry heat in the Mediterranean summer, whereas I saw it thriving in wet places of North Spain like Asturias. I think the Platicerium fern would work too up North since I read an article about a Japanese guy who rolled it on a tree and they always had snow in winter but the fern thrived later on

Thanks for your comment, I used to grow Tetrapanax but the leaves got so incredibly big for my tiny garden that they took too much space 🤣

Hello, Amazing feeling to be lost in a huge garden each time i ser your video :) I am localized in french riviera and our temperature during the summer and lack of water are pushing us to try to find other solution for the garden :( but we also can grow magic plants as we rarely have negatiive temperature. Still I am jalous to see so many big green Big foliage everywhere in your garden 😅. If you have any idea what could have big foliage but not requiring a lot of water? PS: sorry for m'y english ;)

Thanks Craig, informative video, learning all the time. Do Brugmansa's take a while to establish & bloom, or are they the vigorous type. If I get one now, how long before they are big enough to flower. Thx

I am so glad for this channel. I actually moved to the Ecuadorian Andes and cannot find a lot of books or gardening channels for designing gardens here. I recognize so many of the plants you have are available right in my backyard, literally. You might be surprised to find many English style gardens here with the plants you'd find in the UK. I guess like many places, people want the exotic plants for their gardens. In this case, lavender and rosemary, English roses and primroses. Sub tropical gardens in the Andes is not as popular as you might think, even though many of the plants are indigenous to the country I live in. Actually finding written resources on on garden design here does not exist. For example how big does an Elderberry grow in the Andes? There is a lot of information for Elderberry trees on the internet and they are considered a shrub, at a maximum of around 3m but not any for Andes gardening (FYI an Elderberry tree grow to be around 9m here). And I've yet come across professional landscapers. So your channel is incredibly important to me. Thank you

@tinak3271 Interesting but elderberry are trees and another variety is a shrub, European elderberry (Sambucus nigra) and the American elderberry (Sambucus canadensis. The berries contain cyanide when raw so need to be boiled for at least 30 minutes. Also not recommended for diabetics or auto immune disease as they can raise insulin levels.

My tropical garden is approximately 3 years old. Is it too late now that it's fully planted to improve the soul with mushroom compost? Where do you purchase it from? Cheers!

Hi! Not at all, you can apply it as a mulch in Autumn and Spring. Just let the worms dig it in so you don't disturb any existing roots :D I got mine from a company called Mr Mucks and had a good experience.
