That malay girl in hijab command of Malay is quite advanced. 'Keragaman pengaruh' is not a commonly spoken phrase.

Actually this is the double edged sword of LKY’s policy to make English the lingua franca of SG. In order to unite the various ethnic groups with a common language and promote economic development. Every group is suffering from mother tongue decline these days.

It's a bit sad and cruel in reality but this phenomenon happens almost everywhere in the world. You either give up your original ethnic identity and language, master the new language and call it your mother tongue, or you continue embracing your initial identity tightly while not getting very good at the 'new' language. Due to a series of historical and political developments, many overseas Chinese in Southeast Asia like Thailand, Vietnam, Indonesia etc have adopted local names, speak the local languages like native people, and some have even forgotten their ancestry, in Chinese we call it 被同化. In Malaysia where I am from, the influence of our ethnicity remains strong. We are allowed to speak our mother tongue as our first language, embrace the traditions and cultural festivities of our ethnicity, have schools that focus on teaching our own mother tongue, speak our mother tongue with friends and family outside work and formal occasions. But the outcome is we will be half baked when it comes to the mastery of the national language and English. Good mastery is still possible but requires a lot more personal effort and interest outside the mandatory education. The Chinese who speak native-like Malay probably went to Malay schools and mingle with Malay people a lot even outside school or work. Those who speak very fluent and natural English are those who went to international schools, typically, but many of them also can't write a word of Chinese these days.

But we all learn MT as a 2nd language, right? So when the student is lazy and dun want to learn, dun blame LKY.

The saddest part of LKY's policy is that the Chinese community in Singapore 🇸🇬 gave up their actual mother tongues Hokkien, Teochew, Cantonese, Hakka, Fuzhounese, Hainanese, Henghwa for a stepmother tongue, Mandarin

last question was the easiest of all eps hands down did it in Malay and Chinese within 30s. 馬來民間傳說一般都具有各種歷史和文化因素,進而體現了馬來文化的傳統和多元文化影響。 Mitos Melayu biasanya mengandungi unsur-unsur sejarah dan agama, justeru, mencerminkan kepelbagaian pengaruh dan tradisi dalam budaya Melayu.

Let us ponder on Chinese idiom 'make a place a home' with malay idiom dimana tanah dipijak disana langit dijunjung; gist of the idioms is similar but the Malay's emphasize more on respect whereas the Chinese on ownership! Singapore is the result when the cultures collide.

If you have followed previous episodes, their idiom questions for the different languages are never meant to be equivalent, as it is close to impossible to have identical idioms in each language. It is merely a translation task of the respective idioms.

The Chinese idiom is meant for new immigrants who have immigrated and have already decided not to go back to their original country. I believe the Malay idiom is meant for tourist.

马来民俗往往包含的历史及宗教元素,反应了马来文化多元的传统习俗和影响力。That said, the sentence itself is problematic as it contains both active and passive voices that are not in parallel construct. As a result, it confuses and reads awkwardly.
