Bonus tip (that I JUST discovered while playing my warrior) - Farming Blue Pearls from the clams in the Vile Reef. Roughly 30s a pop on the AH currently. Made about 10g from about 35 min of swimming around (was just trying to do the quest and auctionator told me their value). Watch out for elite murlocs though!

About to hit 60 today, currently 59. Sitting on 1400g. What I do is take mine/skin and mob grind.. By 40 I had 120g, just vendor everything up to 20,ah after.

You missed a GREAT way to make gold... check the AH for cloth prices, when they dip below the price of vendored bandages, buy in bulk, go afk while you make a few thousand bandages, ez profit...I've bought 3 lvl 40 mounts this way.

@SilviteSoltis yep, now, you generally don't make a lot per time, usually 2-5g, but its something you can do to make gold while eating dinner, watching KZbin etc..
