If one thing can be learned from jake is that a calm mind can be your greatest tool. My early years i would rushed and stressed out and have a very difficult time troubleshooting. A calm mind can let you think clearly and you can see, observe and have better troubleshooting ideas. Now i tell myself that even 5 minutes spend just looking at it analysing the situation can save you hours. Thanka for the awesome videos

100% exactly as you said, but sometimes it is difficult to deal with people on the vessel. Some of the C/E, 1st Engineer, or 2nd Engineer do not understand the issue, and they pressure the ETO to fix it as quickly as possible. But that’s totally wrong. I can’t work under those conditions, always feeling like someone is monitoring me and counting my time. This guy is very specific, and I love his calm approach to the problem. I working on Cruise Ship now and there is little bit different but our life on the boat is not a same as the people who have work on the land😂

Awesome video I'll let you know nice troubleshooting trick when we have a tripping circuit as such it's nice to insert a lamp at rated voltage in between the breaker in the shorted circuit in this configuration when we turn the circuit on the lamp will illuminate brightly usually once we find the source of short amongst the mirrored of components as you were weeding through the haystack the light will go out so it makes it a little easier you don't have to keep turning the switch on unattentionally letting the smoke out....Peace.

Excellent and thorough troubleshooting! As a desk jockey I love seeing your field work! One comment you made confused me. When looking at the actuator you mentioned a few reasons you suspected the chuck cable between the actuator/controller. Did you suspect the actuator/controller from the beginning, and if so, why was it important to check the other parts of the NF2 24V bus first?
@leckyjake4 жыл бұрын
Because NF2 is supplying 3 loads and need to check those loads one by one. In troubleshooting, esp in shipping, the last thing to be suspected is always the expensive part.

hi sir, how many person electrician in that vessel.
@eyadalsaadi3 жыл бұрын
dear friend, how are you always you are renewable and rich of experience please GO AHEAD with FULL SPEED you have powerful engine (touch wood), again i have confusion about continue tripping of Breaker NF2, since you disconnected all connectors/jack to controller side but still NF2 tripping although when you dismantle controller and connected with NF2 with power supply occurred trip which for me logically if you disconnect all jacks at controller side should NF2 not trip any more except in case of NF2 connect and supply other deflective device which cause the NF2 tripping, Sorry for long explanation just to send my clear view and diagnostics as well as easy way. Really waiting your answer same as waiting your new videos.
@leckyjake3 жыл бұрын
I did not disconnect all. Only the output side to ensure/check that I don't have short circuit on the output side. Input cables are still connected on the controller. Every time i powered it on, no out connected, the nf2 is still tripping.

want to ask, on my ship now, there are 3 generators, generator number 2 if in parallel the amperage is less than other generators, but the KW voltage and freq are the same as the others, how can that be? For example, generator number 1 has 250 amperes but generator number 2 is only 140 A, what's the problem, teacher?
@satrioadhiprakoso17683 жыл бұрын
Please help sir
@johnndukatasie99833 жыл бұрын
This is due to the load variation on each generator. In other words, the generators do not have equal loads.
@johannphilips3 жыл бұрын
Make sure the voltage output of each generator is the same with the main CB open. Switch off the engine, ensure Speed & Trim pots are in the center Run the engine and the main CB should be open. Make sure the speed is at 1200 or 1800 RPM Make sure the voltage is as per spec 480 or 600... Do it for all 3 eng / gen and you should get great sharing between them
