Great work and illustrations in throughly explaining how super, sub and temps all go together to tell a clear story of the HVAC.

Your videos are extremely informative. I would like you to PLEASE do a video on how to remove/change slanted coils. I have searched and searched, but cannot find any information on slanted coils. Again. thank you for all the knowledge you have shared with us new technicians.

Ok so I'm a plumber who is not that old and body already being best to hell. I'm making the move into HVAC/refrigeration and been reading a ton. This was one of the best videos yet... I can tell your a badass tech. Definitely slow it down a bit (like when your describing abstract situations from what we are currently looking at) so.I can follow a bit easier. some OJT with you would be invaluable

Thank you very much for the tutorial, please sir,is superheat and sub cooling also use in air conditioning system that makes use of automatic expansion valve like cars?
@frankroper32742 жыл бұрын
I like the movie "Sling Blade"...keep it simple! You come on a unit with a frozen evaporator cut it off. Check the filter(s). Put it in the heat mode and defrost the evaporator. Then put your gauges on it and see if it is low freon. You checking all this sub cooling and super heat when you could go and check for a stopped up filter and defrost the coil and sign off on it!

very well explained very much helpful for me understanding the effects of wet bulb on a piston unit and superheat and subcool really is very important as is TD I see

Today I actually had the "undercharge" condition(SH 30deg over target, SC 5deg) but my head pressure is 390 which seems high. Piston metering. Airflow good, filters clean. Afraid to add more refrigerant since due to high pressure. Am I concerned for nothing and should just add refrigerant and only look at temperature targets regardless of pressure? You mention "don't care about pressures", so perhaps I'm just overly cautious.

Good Morning Sir, thank you for all the valued informations, me and my colleges would like to see and hear from you the Signs and scenarios to check the charge of an Air Conditioner Evaporator having a high return air temperature.
@EdgeTekHVAC3 жыл бұрын
High return temperature is essentially high load, this will cause high suction pressure and high superheat and possibly high head pressure. To accurately adjust the charge you will need to run the unit for a while and get the high load under control before making final adjustments to the charge.

Target superheat Equals Indoor wet bulb measured at cold air return multiply times 3 Subtract 80 Then subtract outdoor ambient measured in the shade Then divide by 2 equals target superheat

hi, i was working on an r22 system with fixed orifice. subcooling was at 9f and my superheat was 2f. the suction temp. was about 30f. there was lots of nice cold air coming out from floor register. please help as i have no idea what the problem is. thank you for all your helpful videos.

hello dear, I have a question: if we increase the volume or the size of the condencer in this case, we will have more air cool inside the car ?

@@EdgeTekHVAC hi sir, i still confusing in superheat and subcool... what is standart range for superheat and subcool? Even reciprocating compressor also same range as u calculating now? Our system dont have indoor blower... our system connected chill water tank..
@mark.r89005 жыл бұрын
hi , how do you find the INDOOR superheat if there's no shrader port at the evaporator outlet? thanks.
@EdgeTekHVAC5 жыл бұрын
Hi Mark, Typically superheat is measured at the service valves at the condensing unit.
@fixmytoyota63196 жыл бұрын
Can you check superheat pressure on the low side when the heat is on? It seems that the pressure needle flips 180? When i put the ac on to test like i normally would I read 25lbs its like 65 degrees outside. I normally test at 90 degrees and get 115lbs
@EdgeTekHVAC6 жыл бұрын
Hi Jim, our technical services team recommends testing an A/C when it is 75 degrees outside or above.

Are there any deferment between calculation super heat & sub cool at( refrigerator and air condition ) units ?
@EdgeTekHVAC6 жыл бұрын
Hello! Sub Cooling and Superheat are calculated the same on any refrigeration system, although the required superheat and sub cooling may change.

what would cause superheat to fluctuate up and down 8 my superheat would be at 14 and go down to 6 then go up to 20 but the pressure is high and low will stay the same?
@EdgeTekHVAC6 жыл бұрын
Hi Mark, Insufficient airflow or improper sensing bulb mounting causing TXV to hunt.
@markmonaco89016 жыл бұрын
Thank you
@Ephbaum6 жыл бұрын
Could be the bulb. Could also be non-condensables in the system. Meaning the system wasn't evacuated properly and you have something other than pure refrigerant in there.

How do you know when your subcooling is too high or too low on a piston system? I guess what I’m asking is what is the ideal subcooling supposed to be on a piston system?
@junior-hk2jt3 жыл бұрын
Between 10 and 15

you talk about low air flow across indoor coil , low vapor line temp. , What about to much air flow across indoor coil , will you get high vapor line temp ?
@EdgeTekHVAC7 жыл бұрын
Hello - the answer is yes. The examples provided were just some examples.
@juliofelix27247 жыл бұрын
hi my a/c high side is low that is the piston or the coil
@EdgeTekHVAC7 жыл бұрын
If the high side is low and the suction is normal to high it could be an oversized piston or improperly installed piston more than likely not a coil issue.
