Being a mechanic, what I can tell you is when you head into the water. That’s creates sudden contraction of the discs. They will warp and get excessive runout. Meaning one side of the disc is 0.1 of a mm more worn than the other. This tiny difference can cause brake shudder. Anyways great video Robbie, you’re sounding healthy!

Great tip saying pull over if your on the brakes going down hill they crack once hitting cold water. Another tip in a auto low rang and 1st gear walks down it. Great to see you getting on some trout done well buddy
@oldbloke204Ай бұрын
Also a good idea to let diffs, gearboxes etc cool down if you don't have breathers fitted as they can draw water past the seals if they're hot and suddenly cooled down.

We’ve had the 1/64 jig heads for well over 30 years at home. Deadly for crappie and trout. Not a good idea drinking the water from the creeks. It’s the pathogens you need to worry about.

As you navigated the stream I saw an old fallen log laying parallel to the stream. The log looked to be 40-60cm in diameter. It amazed me that a log that diameter was so straight and void of any sign of branches. Must have been a very tall tree before it came down. Here craft persons are recovering logs like that to mill in home based saw mills used for hobby/crafting purposes. Just an observation that did not take away from the splendor of that stream and environment surrounding it. I would count the encounter as a Christmas blessing.
@robbiefishingАй бұрын
Thanks so much mate. We have these beautiful big trees here called Mountain Ash. They're either the tallest flowering tree in the world, or the tallest flowering tree in Australia. I can't remember which one. LOL I'm any case they're huge trees, very tall and very straight. They were logged extensively for many years, but logging them was banned a few years back because we need to stop and preserve what Forrest's we have left.

Ive bought some of those very light and small strike tyger plastics and jig heads and would like to know what okuma rod that is as it seems to cast well.
@robbiefishingАй бұрын
Hi mate, I honestly can't remember the model name sorry. It's a graphite rod with a fibreglass tip. It's actually not a great casting rod, but is awesome fun to reel fish in with once they're booked up..

what your thoughts on casting downstream or casting upstream when lure fishing for trout.

I always cast upstream where possible.

Select a lower gear for going down steep incline save your breaks over heating and causing reak fade
@robbiefishingАй бұрын
Absolutely it does, but on the steep hills you still need to ride your breaks unless you're using hill descent, in which case the computer in the car still applies the breakers.
